Former TDP MLA’s son held for harassing NRI women

The Vijayawada city police arrested son of a former TDP MLA in connection with a complaint lodged by an NRI women alleging that he has been harassing her through an email and WhatsUp. Penamaluru police arrested Akkineni Vijay Krishna (38), son of a former TDP MLA of Jaggaiahpet AKkineni Lokeswar Rao.

According to police, the victim had sent a complaint of harassment to city police commissioner Gautam Sawang on February 2, by email, from Louisville of Kentucky in USA. She hails from Penamaluru of Vijayawada, got married 15 years ago and living in the US for the past 10 years.

She has been reportedly facing harassment through Whatsapp and email from the accused since four years. After receiving a complaint from her, the City Police Commissioner instructed Penamaluru police to investigate the case and confirm facts.

Vijay Krishna was allegedly threatening her with photos and video clips that were taken before her marriage. Both of them belongs to Penamaluru and residing nearby where their family members also close acquaintances. They also having acquaintances before the victim’s marriage.

The accused was now harassing her with the photographs that they had clicked when they were together saying that he will show the photographs and videos to the victim’s husband. He has been asking her to leave her husband and get married to him.

After conducting a raid on the residence of Vijay Krishna in Penamaluru, with seizure of mobile phones, computer, hard disks and other electronic devices, the police confirmed the role of the accused in harassment. They also found more than 500 pictures.

Later, Gautam Sawang said that wife of Vijay Krishna, who is also a victim of dowry harassment, approached him and lodged a complaint. Based on complaints from both, the police have registered cases under Sections 354 (d), 506 for criminal intimidation, 509 for gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman and a case under IT Act 2008, 498A of IPC was booked.
