Visakhapatnam has added a spectacular new landmark to its skyline. The country’s longest glass skywalk bridge has officially opened atop Kailasagiri, giving visitors an unforgettable way to experience the beauty of the city. The bridge offers sweeping views of the sparkling Bay of Bengal, the green stretch of the Eastern Ghats and the vibrant city below. It has quickly become one of the most exciting attractions in Andhra Pradesh.
The structure is an engineering marvel. It stretches 55 meters, surpassing Kerala’s Vagamon Glass Bridge, which is 38 meters long. Built 862 feet above the ground and 1,000 feet above sea level, the skywalk stands as a dramatic cantilever supported by 40 tonnes of high-grade steel. The walkway is made of three layers of 40mm tempered laminated German glass designed to withstand strong winds up to 250 km/h and heavy foot load. Although the bridge can hold up to 100 people, only 40 visitors are allowed at a time to ensure safety and a calm viewing experience.
Developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority at a cost of ₹7 crore, the skywalk is expected to become a major highlight for both domestic and international tourists. The combination of height, clarity and panoramic views makes every step on the glass walkway thrilling.
Ticket prices have not been officially confirmed. However, early reports suggest that entry may range between ₹200 and ₹500 per person. The skywalk is likely to remain open during daytime and into the evening, with sunrise and sunset predicted to be the most popular times for visitors.
