Ignoring the clear prohibition by the Supreme Court on organizing Jallikattu, people from the Pullaiahgari Palle and Rangampet near Chandragiri town, Chittoor district ,staged the controversial and violent sport.

Jallikattu is a bull taming sport in which the bulls are chased to bring them under control and grab the prizes tied to their horns. . while the police of the state became mute spectators. It was part of the Sankranti celebrations.  Rangampet jallikattu ended at around 3 pm. Unlike in Tamil Nadu where bulls are used in sport , Rangampet people use cows instead. Villages said the sport went off peacefully without any untoward incident. They asserted that “it’s only cow festival and should not be called jallikattu”.

During the current round of Sankranti, Court Orders have been openly violated by not only the people he law makers ruling party chose violate it in broad day light. On one side cockfight gambling went on unabated, on the other Jallikattu was organized in Chittoor district, the border district of Tamil Naidu. Incidentally, the Pullaiahgari Palle and Rangampet fall in the Chandragiri constituency, which chief minister Naidu represented in the past.
