Padmashri Kamal Haasan is busy promoting his upcoming film Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam. As the film is heading for a pan-Indian release, Kamal Haasan and his team are promoting the film in all the languages. During a recent event in Chennai, Kamal Haasan’s words sparked controversy. “My life and my family is Tamil language. Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil” told Kamal and this did not go well with many. He made these comments addressing Shiva Rajkumar who was present for the event.
Karnataka BJP chief Vijayendra Yediyurappa called these comments uncultured. He said that Kamal Haasan has insulted the Kannada language. Pro-Kannada have threatened to ban his movie in the state. Praveen Shetty, leader, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike warned that the people of Karnataka will ban the movies of Kamal Haasan. Thug Life is slated for June 5th release across the globe. Trisha, Simbu, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Sanya Malhotra, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal will be seen in other prominent roles. The film is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies.
