The sudden visit of Telangana Chief Minister K Chadnrasekhar Rao to national capital this evening, on the advice of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gained prominence and many in Hyderabad felt that it involves a political mission on the guise of demonetization.
His visit gained significance as he is meeting Modi at a time almost all the non-BJP chief ministers, including its long stand allay Punjab’s Prakash Singh Bada are up in arms against demonetization As Rao is known for making strategic moves at a key time so that to grab maximum political mileage, is expected to indicate some political propositions during his meeting with Modi tomorrow..
Besides Odissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, he is the only chief minister who did not commented till now on demonetization. On the other hand, he directly telephoned to Prime Minister Modi exhorting the need to take some urgent steps so that to avoid `innocents’ He also seeking to extending helping hand to his government from the negative that would have on the state budget 2017-18.
Already two chief ministers Mamata Benerjee and Arvind Kejriwal issued ultimatum of three days to roll back the move. One of oldest allay of BJP, Shiva Sena has openly joined hands with Mamata in protest.
When all the opposition parties are uniting against Prime Minister in both offices of the Parliament strongly opposing demonetization, even NDA partners are also maintaining silence. At this juncture, Prime Minister is also set to make use KCR’s unscheduled visit to Delhi to establish a political rapport with him.
Interestingly, before leaving for Delhi, KCR has directed his party MPs not to participate in the agitation by opposition parties against demonetization move. According to TRS sources, last evening he spoke to TRS Parliamentary Party leader Jitender Reddy over telephone and asked him not to take active part in the opposition protect.
It may be recalled that yesterday TRS members joined the opposition parties who lodged protest in the Lok Sabha demanding debate over demonetization of old currency notes of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500. However, the Chief Minister reportedly called Jithender Reddy and directed him that no TRS MP should agitate or rush to the Speaker’s podium and should not disrupt proceedings of Lok Sabha.
Political speculations are on the air since a long that KCR’s daughter Kavitha, who is Nizamabad MP is in a hurry to get a place in the union cabinet. Inspite of her keen efforts to get close herself to prime minister, Modi’s silence has reportedly makes accusing of neglecting Telangana’s interests.
However, she is now maintaining silence since last two months after her father reportedly advised her to be restraint. Now, it is learnt KCR is ready to join NDA provider her daughter is accommodated in the union cabinet. BJP circles are also sensing that Narendra Modi, who is keen of getting support from more and more regional parties fearing that BJP’s seats bound to fall in 2019 polls, is not averse to join hands with KCR.
During his meeting with Prime Minister, KCR has decided to seek all those having more than Rs 2.5 lakh income or having savings should not be treated as black money holders. Instead it should be referred to as unaccounted money. Small and medium traders, businessmen and others in the unorganised sectors should be given certain exemptions. They need to be supported. They should be given one more chance to disclose and deposit their accounts thereby granting them one-time amnesty.
Chief Minister is particularly planning to ask Modi that Centre should also take into account how the states have incurred losses and fall in flow of revenue to the exchequer.
