Tamil actor Karthi has decided to support his producer and friend KE Gnanavelraja who is in debt. He signed Vaa Vaathiyaar and completed the shoot on time. After several delays, the film was planned for December 12th release. Gnanavelraja could not clear his past debts and the film’s release got stalled. The makers were trying hard to clear all the hurdles and release the film during the Christmas season. After the Madras High Court ordered a stay on the film’s release, the makers approached the Supreme Court.
The top court has rejected their plan and declined to lift the ban on the release of Vaa Vaathiyaar. Amazon Prime has acquired the digital rights of the film for a fancy price. The digital giant has been mounting pressure from the other side to release the film at any cost before Christmas. Vaa Vaathiyaar will not release during the Christmas weekend and the film’s new release date is yet to be decided. Vaa Vaathiyaar will not be released this year. Amazon has decided to back out from the deal for now as there is no clarity on the release. This is a major blow for the team. KE Gnanavelraja has lost big money over the years and he could not clear the dues. Karthi tried his best and supported the film but the hurdles were not cleared.
With Amazon backing out from the digital deal, this is a big blow for KE Gnanavelraja and the team of Vaa Vaathiyaar. The film was dubbed in Telugu as Annagaru Vostaru. Nalan Kumarasamy is the director and Krithi Shetty is the heroine.
