Kurnool MP Butta Renuka won the 2014 election on YCP ticket but she has later joined the TDP. She is expecting MP ticket of TDP in 2019 election. But the political scene has dramatically changed after the politically strong Kotla family left the Congress and joined the TDP recently. Former Union Minister Kotla Suryaprakasa Reddy is expected to get the TDP ticket for Kurnool MP seat now. With this, there are rumours Butta Renuka may be asked to contest from Adoni MLA seat.
Followers of Renuka say that she is never interested in Assembly and she has requested Naidu to consider her name for Kurnool MP seat. Already, Chandrababu has given his promise to former MLA Meenakshi Naidu for contesting from Adoni assembly segment. After seeing the ground level realities, Naidu has changed his strategies. CM’s main goal is to win at least 10 out of the total 14 assembly segments in Kurnool district and also two out of the two MP seats.
The electoral calculations are changing overnight in the TDP review meetings regarding each parliamentary and assembly constituency. This time, like never before, Naidu is spending lot of time to patiently listen to different groups and convincing them to follow the party line. Butta Renuka may have to contest assembly elections by all indications.
