In a clear climb down from his tenacious stand that government should issue the GO categorizing Kapus as BCs immediately, Kapu reservation movement leader Mudragada Padmanabham said the was ready for talks with the government on his demands. ” I’m ready to negotiate with representatives from the government,” he said ahead of his scheduled indefinite fast from tomorrow.

Talking to media on Thursday afternoon, the protagonist of Kapu Ikhya Garjana said so far he had not received any positive response from the government, nor did he send any representatives to the government either.

Except some police officials no representative from the government had contacted me so far, he said clarifying that he also had not dispatched anybody to the government.

Reiterating the demand he said besides BC status he was demanding allocation at the rate of Rs 1000 crore per year to the Kapu corporation and government had to release Rs 2000 crore for the two years.

” As there was no response from the government till now, there is no change in my decision to go on indefinite fast from 9 am tomorrow, ” Mudragada declared.

But he opined that the time from given to the Kapu commission of Justice Manjunadha should be shortened. As per the notification, the Manjunadha commission has to submit its report in nine months. The commission has started it functioning from Thrusday even though the terms of reference have not been issues so far.

Mudragada requested the Kapu youth not to come to Kirlampudi, his village, to express solidarity to him and his wife.

” It is enough that you skip the lunch and assemble at some place near your home. Sound the lunch plate to indicate that you are on fast. This will be taken as solidarity to me,” Mudragada said.

He reiterated that he had no political motive other than achieving BC reservation to his community.
