No lessons learnt : Exorbitant price paid for Mahesh’s BAN

It looks like Telugu cinema distributors are not learning from their previous mistakes. We have already seen how buyers from major areas suffered huge losses when big ticket films failed to make a mark at the box office. In some cases ( like SPYder and Agnyathaavaasi), the losses are unfathomable.

There were many instances when films failed to touch break even mark even though they managed to garner good talk. The core reason for this is due to the exorbitant prices that are forked out by buyers to bag the rights of films. Also, GST and competition from other films are playing vital roles in deciding the box office range. But, there seems to be no change in the mindset and the approach of distributors.

It is reliably learnt that Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu has been getting offers in the range of 40-45 Crores for Coastal Andhra area. This is a staggering offer for the producer. However, trade analysts opine that it is an exorbitant price considering Mahesh Babu’s market in the region and also the stiff competition during Summer.

The miserable run of big ticket films in recent times should act as an eye-opener for distributors who are readily shelling out high prices for the rights. Otherwise, they continue to fall into the trap of the producers and accumulate huge losses. F
