Would non-party dissent survive in Telangana ?

0

An attempt is being made in Telangana by the non-party forces to articulate the aspiration of people in post-Telangana politics. Though it is too early to expect the rise of some anti-establishment voice in Telangana, attempts are being made to bring together non-party forces.

Political JAC leader Prof Kodandaram has actively been pursuing farmers cause in the drought hit regions of the state. However, he is not able to clearly spell out what his line is vis–à–vis TRS.
Now, in Telangana only two voices are heard- one is loud TRS voice and the other is of fading opposition’s. For the past 22 months TRS is consciously encouraging the leaders from other parties join the pink party in the name of reunification of Telangana forces. This call to reunite the Telangana forces under the banner of TRS is bound to weaken the dissent in the new-born state. Opposition is lowly ceding ground to TRS with MLAs from its ranks are more than willing to cross over to TRS. Against this background left forces, who could not come to terms with establishment, are meeting for two days from tomorrow in Gadwal, Mahabunagar district.

Many intellectuals like Prof Haragopal, KY Ratnam, Anwar Khan, Lakshminarayana, Surepalli Sujana popular balladeer Gaddar etc are expected to participate in the meeting. The meeting is being organized by Telangana Praja Front (TPF) which has got marginalized after the formation of Telangana.TRS policies.

While Kodandaram believes in carrying forward the political JAC, other constituents of JAC, mostly organizations belonging to government employees, left him stating there is no need for JAC as the chief minister KCR is paving path for Bangaru Telangana.

Many of the intellectuals, who actively participated are eager to join the government in one form or the other indicating the end of era of agitations.

Other Telangana organizations, numerous JACs, local level fronts – all have been rendered redundant after formation of state. It is not known how TPF would gain its sustenance when the TRS supremo clearly is of the view that there is no need for any organization in the state as long as he and TRS are in power.
