Poll bugle sets the tone for five states: Amma, Didi, Chandy, Tarun on their marks

Use of foul language and spread of political filth don’t seem to take a backseat what with elections for five States being scheduled spanning five phases from April 4 to third week of May (precisely May 16).

The Bharatiya Janata Party won’t spare any effort to make its presence felt in Asom and Puducherry or Pondicherry. It’s efforts will anyway go to waste in Kerala and West Bengal. Tamil Nadu will be no different, in spite of its cobbling up a truck with DMDK of actor Vijayakanth. Just that we will be missing the powerful political and satirical analysis of Cho Ramaswamy, as he is ailing.

India TV’s opinion poll has already put Mamata Banerjee ahead of others in West Bengal. The CPM-led left alliance is working over time to rediscover itself and wrest power in West Bengal and Kerala.

Chances of the CPM-led Left Democratic Front are bright in Kerala over Oomen Chandy-led ruling United Democratic Front. Internal dissensions and slew of charges against the ruling dispensation are not uncommon, but not ignorable either.

Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK enjoys an edge over the DMK-Congress alliance. However, the survey feels Jayalalithaa may fall short of a majority to cross the half-way mark. What if it happens is currently hypothetical. But, not unpredictable? thanks to Modi-fied politics.

But, it’s way too early to conclusively arrive at the possible outcome.

Assam will witness a fierce battle between the Congress led by three-time Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the BJP that’s been nursing the State with allies like Asom Gana Parishad and Bodo People’s Front.

The Democle’s swords hanging on the heads of the war horses in different States are: 1. The solar scam on Chandy, Sharada scam on Mamata Banerji, and the impending Supreme Court verdict on Jayalalithaa, and huge anti-incumbency for Gogoi, among other things.

Funniest part will be the clownish antics of someone around in our neighbourhood bragging at the victory of anybody, irrespective of their political history and geography, drawing parallels with themselves. Recall the victory of Obama and Akhilesh Yadav and even Kejriwal (though he was dropped off like a hot potato at the instance of more powerful people).
