Kodandaram New Party

The manner in which the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof M Kodandaram has resorted to confront with the government yesterday insisting to go ahead with his proposed `Nirudyogula Nirasana Pradarsana’, is indicating that he is moving ahead to launch his new political party on June 2, the Telangana formation day.

The official sources said that they were forced to respond aggressively after receiving intelligence inputs that the intention of the rally was `political’, but not just to focus government’s attention towards filling up of vacancies in various departments.

It was learnt that a section of TJAC leadership had planned to convert protest rally into a Jallikattu type show at Indira Park continuing protests with few thousands of youth for a week to 10 days, so that to make it into a mega event making Indira Park as Telangana’s Marina.

Even opposition party leaders earlier who extended support and promised to participate in the rally along with their cadre, also said to be kept away themselves, only after realising political ambitions of Kodandaram and his efforts to start a new party.

Meanwhile, Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy came out openly against Kodandaram accusing that there was a deliberate political conspiracy behind the rally. Stating that the government is not opposed to TJAC holding a meeting or rally, he said that it should follow certain procedure and rules.

He recalled that both the police and the High Court had suggested the meeting be held at Nagole and wondered that why Kodandaram insisted that his word should prevail. Asking the TJAC chief to explain why he withdrew his petition in High Court while the judge was reading the judgement, he alleged that apparently, the intention was to disturb the law and order situation in the state.

The Home Minister said that they have no objection if Kodandaram floats a political party but he cannot conspire against the government. Stating that the government had repeatedly said that it was committed to fill the vacant posts and had issued several notifications, he wondered that still why the JAC chief was provoking the students.
