As part of the inquiry into drug case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Prohibition and Excise department on Thursday grilled noted Tollywood cinematographer Shyam K Naidu for over five hours, and managed to extract vital information from him.
According to ours sources, Naidu has revealed that Puri consumes drugs and that he supplies narcotics to his friends and acquaintances in film industry as a goodwill gesture. He added that he has worked as cinematographer for 17 films of Puri and that he knows each and every happening in the director’s life. Saying that drugs use is very common in film industry, he claimed that he doesn’t even smoke, leave aside drugs.
As Naidu has revealed some vital information, SIT officials are contemplating on making him an ‘Approver’ in this case. They are of the opinion that the information provided him earns him significant amnesty to be added as an approver. He was asked to appear before SIT whenever they calls him for further inquiry.
During the interrogation, a team of doctors from Osmania Hospital have taken blood, nail and hair sample of Naidu to ascertain whether he was consuming drugs. The samples have been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and it will take about a month for the reports to come.
Naidu was the second prominent person from Tollywood after Puri Jagannath to have been questioned in drugs scandal. Actor Subbaraju will appear before the SIT on Friday.
