In a rather surprising development, former deputy chief minister and Congress leader Damodar Raja Narasimha’s wife Padmini Reddy joined BJP today. Damodar Rajanarsimha is currently a key leader in Congress party and will be contesting on Congress’s ticket in upcoming elections. His wife is now expected to contest on BJP ticket from some other constituency.
Damodar Rajanarasimha was deputy CM of united AP during Kiran Kumar Reddy’s regime. He is currently manifesto committee chairman in Congress. He will be contesting from Andole this time too. TRS changed sitting MLA Babu Mohan as Damodar is strong in this constituency now. However, his wife also has political plans and wants to contest from Sangareddy or Medak. But it is unlikely that she gets a ticket to contest from these constituencies in Congress. The party has recently announced the policy of 1 ticket for 1 family.
So, she decided to contest from other party. Today she joined BJP and she was welcomed into the party by BJP Telangana chief Laxman. As per the reports, BJP was ready to join Damodar Rajanarasimha too into their party if he wants. But Damodar wants to continue in Congress. So, finally she alone joined BJP.
As per reports, sitting MLA of Andole, Babu Mohan, will contest from BJP this time and he has to fight with Damodar Rajanarasimha in the constituency. It will be interesting to see if Padmini Reddy supports her party leader against her husband.
