Akun Sabharwal received threats for probing Drug racket

Telangana Exise Enforcement wing Director Akun Sabharwal received as many as three threating calls for investigating on the Hyderabad Drug Racket case. The intimidating anonymous calls were made using VoIP (voice over internet protocol).

The callers threatened Sabharwal and allegedly said that they were aware of the whereabouts of his family. The police have taken this issue seriously because only antisocial elements tend to use VoIP.

It may be recalled that after successfully working on Gudumba menace, Akun took up the infamous Hyderabad drug case which impacted all sections of the society including students, software engineers and Tollywood actors. It’s been more than a month since the investigation is in progress. However, the officer received calls only after summoning Tollywood personalities for enquiry.

While the forensic experts are tracing the caller, reportedly the intimidator was annoyed by the drug racket operation.
