TRS, Congress busy in minority appeasement: Amit Shah

0

Accusing both the TRS and Congress of indulging in minority appeasement, BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday said that parties falling at the feet of MIM can’t develop Telangana.

Referring to Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s statement that whoever became Chief Minister of Telangana or undivided Andhra Pradesh had to bow before his party, he said the parties who fall at the feet of the ‘party of razakars’ can’t do any good to Telangana.

Addressing an election rally here, he reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not allow the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to provide 12 percent reservations to Muslims as there was no provision for religion-based quota in the Constitution.

He alleged that the Congress was promising reservation for minorities in government contracts. “Rahul Gandhi says if Congress comes to power, it will build a separate hospital for minorities. What is the crime of the poor who are not from minorities?” asked Shah.

“What about temples?” he asked, referring to the Congress’ promise to provide free electricity to mosques and churches.

“They are promising jobs to Urdu-knowing teachers. What will happen to Telugu-knowing teachers? They want to provide Rs 20 lakh for minority students going abroad for higher education but what about poor students from backward classes?”

The BJP President said this election was a triangular fight.

“On one side you have KCR who is keeping Telangana at the feet of MIM, on the other side you have Rahul Gandhi’s Congress who sends Navjot Singh Sidhu to Pakistan to embrace their Army chief. The third is the BJP which is a team of patriots led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

He said KCR imposed election expenditure of hundreds of crores by going for early polls instead of scheduled elections to Assembly and Lok Sabha in May next year. He said the TRS chief was scared of Modi’s popularity.

KCR pushed rich Telangana into huge debts, says Amit Shah

0

The BJP has stepped its offensive against the ruling TRS in Telangana election. BJP national president Amit Shah has accused CM and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao of having pushed the state into huge debts, saying that there is now Rs. 2.2 lakh crore debt burden on the state’s people. It is all because of unplanned expenditure and illegal activities of KCR and his family members, he added.

During his election meetings in Adilabad, Amit Shah advised KCR to at least make a dalit leader the new chief minister of Telangana. He recalled how Chandrasekhara Rao had betrayed the people by not fulfilling his long established promise of making a dalit leader CM after separate Telangana is formed. The BJP leader accused KCR of telling all lies with his sole aim being promotion of his family members in plum posts.

Amit Shah demanded to know why the TRS government was not implementing the developmental and welfare schemes launched by the Modi government in Telangana state. The true benefits of Centrally sponsored schemes are not reaching the common people because of the failures of the KCR government.

Amit Shah further said KCR has not conducted celebrations of Telangana liberation day during his regime just because he is afraid of incurring the wrath of his friendly Majlis party. He assured the voters of conducting liberation day celebrations in a grand manner once the BJP comes to power in the state.

Amit Shah dissatisfied over Bellary defeat

0

BJP National President Amit Shah has expressed his dissatisfaction with the party Karnataka leaders over the recent defeat in the bye-polls. He also enquired about the details of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Bengaluru.

Amit Shah pulled up the party leaders over the defeat of BJP nominee in Bellary by a huge margin of around 2.4 lakh votes. He asked as to what caused BJP to lose Bellary seat which was its stronghold for over one and half decades.

The BJP has always considered Karnataka as its most favoured state in South India but successive defeats in assembly elections and bye-polls came as a big blow to the party. Amit Shah’s calculations to strengthen BJP in southern states have gone completely wrong.

Amit Shah has told senior BJP leader Yeddyurappa and others how discouraging bye-poll results were at a time when the party is preparing for elections in five states.

Shah instructed party leaders to put the past behind and start early preparations for the 2019 general elections.

KCR afraid to face Modi wave, says Amit Shah

0

BJP National President Amit Shah addressed his party’s ‘Samarabheri’ (battle cry) public meeting at Karimnagar town on Wednesday when he asserted that KCR opted for early elections in 2018 in order to avoid facing massive Modi wave that will sweep across the country in 2019 general polls.

Kickstarting his party election campaign, Amit Shah said KCR had failed to fulfill all the 150 promises he made to the Telangana people for the past four years which included that of making a dalit chief minister.

“KCR will not make any dalit CM. What he wants is to put his son or daughter in the CM chair,” Amit Shad said and added that TRS had failed on many fronts like creation of one lakh jobs, allotment of 3 acres land for each dalit family, construction of double bed-room houses for poor and protection of martyrs’ families.

Making an indirect attack on Congress, Amit Shah said Sonia Gandhi had insulted Telangana’s son of soil and former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao by not allowing his body to be placed in Congress party office for paying respects.

Shah said that Narasimha Rao’s body was even left half burnt as the funeral pyre was not properly set afire which was enough to show how Congress leadership shamed PV’s memory.

Amit Shah asked Telangana people to choose whether to promote ‘Make in India’ campaign under Modi leadership or to join anti-BJP forces only to cause damage to India. He called upon people to defeat forces like Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen.

T-BJP’s hopes on Amit Shah

0

While the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and Congress Party along with Mahakutami has begun the race of campaigning, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to gear up public meetings as well as door-to-door campaign. Majority of the leaders and candidates from the party are having hopes on BJP National President Mr. Amit Shah.

Mr. Shah had already blown counch in South Telangana (Palamuru Shankaravam) and he will visit North Telangana for attending a massive public meeting in Karimnagar district. The BJP, which has no alliance with any party, is moving towards polls with its own strength and strategies of Mr. Shah. Experts in politics have been describing the public meeting of Mr. Shah in South Telangana as almost success and waiting for the response of the voters of North Telangana, who gave huge majority to the TRS in the previous elections.

The cadre from the state is now planning to mobilize large number of audience for the upcoming public meeting of Mr. Shah which is scheduled on October 10 at Karimnagar. Sources said that the leaders from the state are planning to mobilize at least 25 people from each polling booth. “As per the estimations, at least 25,000 people may come to the public meeting from each district of North Telangana and the party high command is expecting at least 2lakh audience for the meeting,” the sources said.

Shah’s strategy

Mr. Shah, who gifted Uttar Pradesh to the party in the previous elections, has his own strategy to divert traditional voters of other parties to BJP. “Usually he deploys BJYM, RSS and VHP workers booth level and assigns them tasks as page-pramukhs (incharge of each page of voters’ list). They do bifurcation voters based on their mind-set that commits support to any political parties. They filter BJP supporters as well as other party’s supporters and neutral voters. Mr. Shah’s strategy emphasises party workers to attract neutral voters more along with convincing the voters of other party supporters. Before one or two days of elections, the strategy shifts to only the number of constituencies to reach magic figure, which any party needs to form government,” the sources explained.

Amit Shah dares TRS to name a Dalit as CM candidate

0

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Saturday kicked off party’s campaign for ensuing Assembly elections by daring the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to name a Dalit as its chief ministerial candidate.

Sounding the poll bugle at a public meeting at Mahabubnagar, he recalled that TRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao had promised before 2014 elections that a Dalit will be made the Chief Minister but when TRS won the elections, he himself became the Chief Minister.

“I want to ask KCR, will you fulfil this promise at least this time or will make your son as the Chief Minister?” said Shah.

The BJP chief slammed TRS government for what he called excesses on Dalits, tribals and farmers. He claimed that more than 4,500 farmers committed suicide in Telangana during last four years of TRS rule.

Shah said KCR imposed early elections on people though the simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assembly were scheduled for May 2019.

He alleged that TRS stopped celebrating Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 as it is afraid of its friendly party Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM). He recalled that it was on this day that Hyderabad state had become part of India but TRS government is not celebrating the day to remember the martyrs because it is afraid of MIM and Owaisi.

Referring to Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s statement that the Congress will form the next government in Telangana, Shah said Rahul is daydreaming. He listed the states where Congress lost the elections since 2014.

The BJP leader said people of Telangana have not forgotten the treatment meted out to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and former Chief Minister T. Anjaiah by the Congress.

Fuel prices: Amit Shah says government to come out with a stand

0

BJP President Amit Shah on Saturday said both the party and the government are concerned over the rising prices of petrol and diesel and that the government will soon come out with a stand.

Addressing a news conference here, he said the rise in fuel prices and the weakening of the rupee were the result of international developments.

“We are trying to find ways. The government will soon come out before people with a stand,” he said.

Shah attributed the increase in fuel prices to US-China trade war and the tension in ties between the US and oil producing nations.

The BJP leader claimed that the weakening of the Indian rupee against the US dollar is “not as bad as the impact on other currencies.”

No alliance with TRS in Telangana: BJP chief

0

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Saturday ruled out any alliance with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for the coming Assembly polls in the state and said the TRS owed an explanation to the people for imposing additional expenditure by going for early elections.

Replying to a query at a press conference Shah, who was here to launch the party’s election campaign, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during his speech in Parliament was in a different context and it cannot be interpreted as an understanding between the two parties.

He denied reports that the BJP was hand-in-glove with the TRS and alleged that it was the TRS and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) which were engaged in “shadow boxing”.

The BJP chief wanted to know why the TRS imposed early polls on the state when the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are slated to be held nine months later.

Shah said Rao had initially supported Modi’s idea of “one nation one election” but he was surprised when he suddenly changed his stand.

“Rao and TRS have forced a small state to bear expenditure of two elections. BJP believes that TRS has put an additional burden of crores of rupees on people to further its political interests,” said the BJP chief.

Shah said that the BJP was ready to give a tough fight to both the TRS and the opposition Congress in every constituency. He was confident that the BJP will emerge as a strong and decisive force in the state.

Shah said there was no chance of the TRS getting a fresh mandate.

“If the TRS government comes back to power, it will continue its politics of appeasement,” he said slamming it for passing a resolution to provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims and sending it to the Centre for its approval.

Claiming that the Modi government provided Rs.2.3 lakh crore to Telangana during the last four years against the Rs 15,000 crore given during the Congress rule, Shah said the BJP showed no discrimination towards any state but was opposed to the politics of appeasement.

Amit Shah to launch Telangana poll campaign on Saturday

0

BJP President Amit Shah will launch party’s campaign for the ensuing elections to the Telangana Assembly on Saturday by addressing a public meeting at Mahabubnagar, said a senior party leader.

Amit Shah, who is arriving on a day-long visit to Telangana on Saturday morning, will also give directions to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s state leaders about poll strategy and election manifesto.

According to BJP’s Telangana unit President K. Laxman, Shah will have meetings with various groups. He will also visit a temple in the old city of Hyderabad.

The BJP chief will review the party’s preparations for the coming elections at a meeting with top leaders. He will issue necessary guidelines to them to gear up for the poll battle.

Shah will later proceed to Mahabubnagar to address the public meeting to formally kick off the party’s election campaign.

Laxman said Shah will visit Telangana again after 10 days to address a public meeting in Karimnagar.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on September 6 dissolved the state Assembly to pave way for early elections.

The BJP had five members in the dissolved 119-member Assembly.

Amit Shah’s tall claims in Bengal more wishful than pragmatic, say analysts

0

Days after BJP President Amit Shah vowed to uproot the Trinamool Congress regime from West Bengal and claimed his party would win a majority of the state’s Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections, political analysts raised doubts about the visit having a massive impact on the state’s politics.

Political Science teacher Udayan Bandopadhyay felt Shah’s claims of winning more than 22 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats from Bengal did not hold much water as the BJP was now in a position to do well in a maximum of eight constituencies, notwithstanding its significant showing in the recent state rural body polls.

“I don’t think Shah’s visit or his claims bears a lot of significance because BJP is still not in a position to take its Lok Sabha tally to double figures here. They can do well in maximum eight seats and come out victorious in close to four or five seats like Purulia, Malda North, Raiganj, Alipurduar and Kolkata North unless something drastic happens,” Bandopadhyay, an associate professor in Bangabasi College, told IANS.

He said if the Left and Congress form an alliance in 2019, they would still manage to get a significant vote share in pockets of Bengal, ultimately enabling the Trinamool to emerge victorious in the bulk of the constituencies.

Claiming that the BJP chief’s speech in Purulia on Thursday lacked public connect, another political analyst, Biswanath Chakraborty, said the saffron outfit’s wrong political strategy in Bengal is consolidating Trinamool’s minority vote bank.

“Shah hailed Lord Ram at the end of his Purulia speech. I think such practises by BJP will only distance them from the Muslims in Bengal and if a party loses out on the entire Muslim vote bank, they’ve no prospect here,” Chakraborty, a professor of Rabindra Bharati University, told IANS. As per the 2011 census, Muslims form 27.1 per cent of the state’s population.

He said the BJP can put up a fight in merely six Lok Sabha constituencies including Alipurduar, Purulia, Bongaon and Krishnanagar, but not to the extent where they can win the seats.

“The political line taken by BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar has worked well for them there, but the same strategy won’t pay dividends in Bengal,” pointed out.

West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress attacked Shah terming him a “rioteer” and said the people would give him a “befitting reply” for trying to foment lawlessness in the state.

“He is an empty vessel that sounds much. All his enthusiasm will come to an end after the 2019 general elections,” Trinamool Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said.

The Left leadership also came out all guns blazing against Shah.

Left Front legislature party leader Sujan Chakraborty dubbed Shah’s visit as a ‘secret ploy’ to fix his party’s electoral understanding with the Trinamool ahead of next year’s poll and questioned the slow progress in the CBI probe into the Narada video footage and the multi-billion rupee Saradha chit fund scandals.

“During his earlier visits to Bengal, Shah had said those accused in Narada and Saradha scam will be punished. But nothing has happened so far,” said Chakraborty, a senior leader of LF spearhead CPI-M.

Several Trinamool leaders were purportedly seen accepting money in exchange of a promise to favour a fictitious company during an alleged sting operation by the Narada news portal.

Echoing the Left, state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury dismissed the BJP President’s strong words against Trinamool as an eyewash. “The two forces have covertly joined hands to wipe out the Congress from the state.”

“The nation is ready to give Shah and his party a befitting reply for their atrocities and anti-people policies and Bengal will be no exception in this matter,” he added.

The Bengal BJP leadership, however, claimed Shah’s visit has created a lot of enthusiasm across the state and sent shivers down the Trinamool Congress’ spine.

“Not just the people of BJP, but people of all political parties were excited about Shah’s visit. This has scared Trinamool so much that they even resorted to pulling down his hoardings and putting up their party banners in Hindi,” BJP National Secretary Rahul Sinha told IANS.

“Amit-ji said he will drive away the communists from Tripura. At that point no one believed him and he has kept his words. He has vowed to uproot ruling party from here. So the 2019 election will not be easy for Trinamool,” Sinha added.

Amit Shah kicks off BJP’s massive outreach programme

0

BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a massive nationwide “Sampark Se Samarthan” (contact for support) personal outreach programme to highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government in the last four years.

Shah kicked off the programme by calling on former Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag at his residence here on Mandir Marg. He handed Suhag a few booklets on the achievements of the Modi government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief also met former Secretary General of the Lok Sabha and constitutional expert Subhash Kashyap at his residence.

After meeting them, Shah told the media: “I went to Suhagji and Kashyapji’s residences and apprised them of the work of Modi government in the last four years. I handed them the booklet on achievements of the government.”

Shah is scheduled to personally meet at least 50 eminent personalities to apprise them of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s achievements.

Explaining the party’s massive outreach programme, the BJP chief said: “The nationwide programme has been launched on the completion of four years of the Modi government at the Centre.”

He said that 4,000 elected members of the BJP would connect with over one lakh people from every field across the country.

Besides the elected members, 50 lakh BJP workers would launch a door-to-door campaign and meet citizens throughout the country.

Shah said: “The aim of this programme is to inform the people about how the BJP has worked for every section of the society and touched their lives, which the country had been expecting for a long time.”

He stressed that the BJP had touched the lives of the poor and also served a number of villages in the last four years by taking government schemes to the rural areas.

The BJP leader, also a Rajya Sabha member, said: “In the fifth year of this government, the BJP will increase the income of farmers and also provide health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh each to 50 crore households across the country.”

Earlier, Shah was scheduled to launch the contact programme from Suhag’s Gurugram-located house in Haryana, but that was cancelled at the last minute, a party official said.

It is part of the party’s effort to reach out to the maximum number of people ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Modi, also as part of the campaign, addressed beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana and Mudra Yojana on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, through the NaMo app.

Amit Shah visits TTD! Faces bitter experience from TDP leaders & Locals!

0

BJP National President Amit Shah who visited Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Tirumala has been the victim of SCS, and protests by TDP leaders. Locals who had come to know about Amit Shah’s visit gathered near Alipiri and started shouting ‘AP Special Category Status’ slogans.

While the TDP leaders staged a protest, the locals confronted the BJP leader, asking him why he had come to Tirumala, in-spite of doing injustice to the state. ‘PM Modi has forgotten about the promises he made in the presence of this very Lord’, said the TDP leaders, and locals.

As Amit Shah’s convoy was racing past the Tirumala Ghat Road, pilgrims who were en-route on foot to the temple, shouted SCS slogans all through the way. The local police who were expecting the protests took preventive measures. Police vans were patrolling throughout Tirumala and blocked protesters wherever possible.

Overall, Amit Shah had a bitter experience this time around visiting the TTD. As per protocol, the TDP officials made sure Amit Shah had completed the Darshan and handed the BJP leader prasadam.

Amit Shah’s Astrology – May 15th will be last day for Siddharamaiah

5

BJP National President Amit Shah took a new avatar as an astrologer and claimed that May 15th will be the last day for Siddharamaiah (Govt.) in Karnataka. It is on the same day, the results for Karnataka Assembly Elections will be out. Talking to the media, Amit Shah tried to invoke the feeling of religion and tried to project Modi as the torch bearer for the nation’s development.

‘There is not even a hint of a chance for Hung government to be formed in Karnataka. BJP will form the government with a complete majority. The upcoming elections are not between parties. In fact, they are between the current Karnataka CM Siddharamaiah and the people of Karnataka.

May 15th would be the last day of Siddharamaiah (Govt.) in the state. People will give him a final sendoff on that very day. I request the people of Karnataka to vote for BJP in support of PM Modi, who is striving for the development of the nation.

No arrests were made in the cases related to the murder of many Hindu in the state’, said Amit Shah. It looks like the BJP National President might have conveniently forgotten about the BJP party workers celebrating the murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh.

Is Amit Shah the ‘Political Bhishma’?

0

Amit Shah not only serves as the BJP National President but also the most powerful after PM Modi in the national politics. Despite the presence of his contemporaries like Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, and other key senior BJP leaders, Amit Shah has carved a unique place for him in the BJP party.

Speaking to the press, Amit Shah has welcomed the ‘Federal Front’ proposal by KCR. ‘I wholeheartedly welcome the Third Front/Federal Front proposal by Telangana CM KCR.

Everyone has a right to form party alliances, and contest in the elections. In the past, many governments were formed because of alliances only’.

Talking about the Karnataka elections, Amit Shah said that the party is not believing the pre-polls, and alleged that the state government is circulating the Centre’s programs, as state-introduced programs.

Amit Shah’s comments on KCR’s ‘Federal Front’ once again show his political knack. If we can carefully observe his comments, it is clear that he is indirectly hinting that BJP is always ready to join with other parties and form the government at the Centre. Speculations surfaced that, Amit Shah’s softness towards ‘Federal Front’ is another sign of BJP – TRS behind-the-doors friendship.
There is no hesitation in terming Amit Shah as the modern-day political Bhishma.

Amit Shah Lies Exposed – AP Government releases UCs

On March 16, the TDP walked out of the NDA over the BJP-led Centre’s failure to accord a special-category status to Andhra Pradesh. Since then war of words and letters has been happening between BJP and TDP leaders.

On March 23rd , BJP President Amit Shah had written an open letter to the Andhra chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing Andhra Pradesh government did not submit utilization certificates for the central government funds to capital Amaravati, Backward districts. On this context, Telugu360 did some fact finding on utilization certificates released by AP government.

There are mainly two accusations in Amit Shah letter. He stated Utilisation Certificates (UCs) have been received only for 12% of the grant released for backward districts in 2016 -17 and UCs were received only for 8% for the 1000 crore released for the Capital regionSince, it is mandatory for the Central Government to have these details to release further installments: it cannot be blamed for fund lapses

But the UC documents released by Andhra Pradesh government have utilization certificates completed, submitted to union government to maximum extent.Amit Shah will be held responsible for his baseless accusations on a state government

First document shows NITI AAYOG certified statement confirms that AP government had submitted utilization certificates for Amaravati funds 2014-15,2015-16,2016-17

Shah says TDP’s decision to quit ‘unilateral’; Naidu hits back

0

BJP President Amit Shah unleashed a belligerent attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, saying his “unilateral” decision to quit the NDA was for political considerations and not development, triggering a bitter war of words between the two on Saturday.

Naidu hit back at Shah’s open letter to him, saying it was “full of false information” that hurt the sentiments of the Telugu people.

The BJP chief’s March 23-dated letter formalised the split between the two allies, a week after the TDP pulled out of the NDA over the demands for special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Shah described as “untrue and baseless” the TDP chief’s allegations that the BJP was not sensitive to the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

He said the central government had released Rs 1,050 crore in the first three years coming to power as special development assistance for seven backward districts of the state.

“Surprisingly, the state has spent only 12 per cent of this amount and 88 per cent remains unutilized.”

Shah termed as “nothing but a figment of your imagination” the Chief Minister’s claims that the Central government had asked the amount be taken back because it was released without PMO’s sanction.

He accused the Naidu government of “some serious lapses…which can’t be ignored”.

He said he had learned that the Centre had not received appropriate details of developmental fund utilization.

The BJP chief said utilisation certificates were received only for 12 per cent of the grant released for backward districts in 2016-17 and for only eight per cent for Rs 1,000 crore released for the capital region. This, he said, reflected “governance deficit”.

Shah said the BJP was committed to the cause of development of Andhra Pradesh but Naidu allowed the mandate earned by the two parties “be squandered for political reasons”.

“Unfortunately, partisan politics has overtaken leading to your party leaving the NDA… The decision will be construed as being guided wholly and solely by political considerations instead of developmental concerns.”

Naidu replied to Shah’s letter in the state Assembly, alleging that the BJP chief misrepresented the facts.

“Amit Shah’s letter is full of false information, which shows their attitude. Even now, the Centre is providing special benefits to north eastern states. Had Andhra Pradesh been given the same hand-holding, many industries would have come to the state,” said Naidu.

Defending his party’s decision to quit the BJP-led NDA, Naidu said it was done to respect the feelings of the people, who were feeling betrayed by the Central government.

He said the NDA did not discharge its responsibility towards its ally and the state.

Naidu took strong exception to the BJP President attributing ulterior motives to him. “You may have that habit, I don’t have,” he said, reacting to Shah’s remark that he was looking to divert the funds received from the Central government.

Slamming Shah for using some strong words in the letter, Naidu said it reflected the functioning of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Disputing Shah’s claim that the Central government extended all help to the state, he dared him to come out with facts and respond to the points raised by him in his letter earlier.

The TDP chief made a point by point rebuttal to Shah’s letter to assert that the Central government failed to come to state’s rescue.

Naidu also told the Assembly that even the funds which the Central government had to give to the state towards the share in the taxes were being shown under the assistance extended to the state during last four years.

Earlier, Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, who is also a cabinet minister, denied Shah’s allegation that the state did not submit utilisation certificates for the funds released by the Centre.

TDP quit due to politics, not development concerns: BJP chief

1

Formalising the split between the two parties, BJP President Amit Shah has unleashed an attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, saying TDP’s decision to quit the NDA was unilateral “guided wholly and solely by political considerations instead of development concerns”.

In a nine-page March 23 letter released on Saturday, Shah described as “untrue and baseless” the TDP chief’s allegations that the BJP was not sensitive to the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

He said the central government had released Rs 1,050 crore in the first three years coming to power as special development assistance for seven backward districts of the state.

“Surprisingly, the state has spent only 12 per cent of this amount and 88 per cent remains unutilized,” Shah said.

He termed as “nothing but a figment of your imagination” the Chief Minister’s claims that the Central government had asked the the amount be taken back because it was released without PMO’s sanction.

Shah accused the state government of “some serious lapses…which can’t be ignored”.

He said he had learnt that the Centre had not received appropriate fund utilization details, particularly with regards to developmental fund.

“Utilisation certificates have been received only for 12 per cent of the grant released for backward districts in 2016-17…only 8 per cent for Rs 1,000 crore released for the capital region.

“Since, it is mandatory for the central government to have these details to release further instalments, it cannot be blamed for fund lapses. Therefore, your statements that the state government has no obligation to give any such statements of expenditure reflect governance deficit.”

Shah said the BJP was committed to the cause of development of Andhra Pradesh but Naidu’s allowed the mandate earned by the two parties “be squandered for political reasons”.

“Unfortunately, partisan politics has overtaken leading to your party leaving the NDA.”

He said the decision “will be construed as being guided wholly and solely by political considerations instead of developmental concerns”.

The TDP walked out of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on March 16.

On March 8, the TDP pulled out its two ministers — Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y.S. Chowdary — from the Narendra Modi government.

Amit Shah calls Chandrababu as TDP decides to step up fight

0

BJP President Amit Shah on Friday spoke to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu over phone, hours after his Telugu Desam Party decided to intensify its fight over the Centre not honouring the commitments made to the state.

Shah rang up the TDP chief and invited him for talks over the commitments made at the time of bifurcation of the state. Naidu conveyed to the BJP chief that he will send a delegation led by the central minister Sujana Chowdary.

According to TDP sources, Naidu made it clear that there will be no compromise on the commitments made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. He conveyed to Shah that the TDP’s fight is not against the BJP but for the justice to the state.

The BJP President called up Naidu a couple of hours hours after TDP Parliamentary Party meeting chaired by Naidu decided to step up the fight over the raw deal meted out to the state in Union Budget 2018-19.

The TDP, a partner in BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, had stalled proceedings in Parliament during the first leg of the budget session and it is gearing up to continue the protest in the second leg, beginning next week.

TDP MP Galla Jayadev told reporters after the meeting that if the Finance Bill is not amended to make allocations to the state to fulfil the commitments, the party will oppose it.

Jayadev said since the Centre had promised to extend all assistance under the special package, the TDP had agreed for the same but as nothing has been done so far, they were pressing for their original demand of special category status. The MP said the party decided to take the issue to the national level by writing letters to all the parties, their floor leaders and MPs.

“If necessary we will go to the court,” said the Lok Sabha member.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Kutumba Rao, who along with TDP MP Rammohan Naidu met Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday, said the talks were disappointing.

He said instead of mooting a formula as assured by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah asked them to present their formula. Kutumba Rao the state had already made its demands clear and hence the Centre should respond to them instead of asking it to present a formula.

The TDP has been demanding that the Centre make financial allocations to the state to fulfil the commitments made to Andhra Pradesh at the time of its bifurcation in 2014 to carve out Telangana state.

Stating that residuary state of Andhra Pradesh suffered huge loss due to the division, the TDP is urging the Centre to handhold the state till it comes up at par with other southern states.

BJP’s ‘ease of doing corruption’: Virbhadra targets Amit Shah’s son

0

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday targeted BJP President Amit Shah over the meteoric rise in the revenues of his son’s company, a year after the party came to power at the Centre.

Virbhadra Singh, charged by the CBI with holding assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, lashed out at Prem Kumar Dhumal, BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for the November 9 election in the hill state, saying his party’s main achievement was “ease of doing corruption”.

“Dhumalji, your remarks on BJP’s supposed fight against corruption made me laugh. Last time, I saw your own sons were out on bail,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

“Your party’s (the BJP) main achievement is ‘ease of doing corruption’. Amit Shah and son’s miracle of 16,000 times lucre hike happens only in BJP rule.”

According to a report on The Wire news website, Temple Enterprises, a company owned by Jay Shah, reported a 16,000 per cent increase in its turnover at Rs 80.5 crore in 2015-16 from a meagre revenue of Rs 50,000 and a profit of Rs 18,728 in 2014-15. The company is involved in the business of exporting agri-products.

Virbhadra Singh said the BJP had launched personal attacks on him because it was fearing his government’s “real vikas (development)” in Himachal Pradesh.

“Let’s not forget the time when your party chose a joyous day of the wedding of my daughter, Himachal’s daughter, to carry out a CBI raid,” he added.

Virbhadra Singh’s response came after Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticised the Chief Minister over the Congress poll manifesto vowing zero tolerance on corruption if the party retains power in the hill state.

“”Singh ‘saheb’ is claiming there will be zero tolerance against corruption. Can anyone believe him? Can you digest it?

“The Congress has become a laughing club. Their Chief Minister has a corruption case against him. He is out on bail. Nothing is left for them and they have lost their hold from every part of the country,” Modi told an election rally in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.

Is BJP behind Jagan Reddy?

0

YS Jagan is all set to start his foot march from November 2nd. Political heat in AP is increasing day by day. But – “Is BJP behind YS Jagan now?”. This is the question being debated recently among political circles. As per these rumors, Amit Shah is giving implicit support to Jagan.

It seems, BJP bigwigs are not happy with Naidu and in fact Modi team never considered Chandra Babu Naidu (CBN) as a trusted partner. In fact CBN also came out of NDA during 2009 elections though TDP was part of NDA in 2004 elections. So, it is rumored that Modi’s team believes CBN came back to NDA in 2014 only because he needed NDA then. But whatever be the reasons and situations, the fact is TDP is currently NDA partner and he is already doing all he can to keep up the alliance. But it seems BJP bigwigs are preferring Jagan. Also, it is rumored that Amit Shah is behind the move that Jagan appointed Prashanth kishore. Jagan usually doesn’t spend that amount of money on anything and more so in getting a super boss for himself. Considering his ego, he never accepts a superior. But as the rumor goes in Delhi circles, Amit Shah is behind this move . Moreover, Vijay Sai Reddy, who is in Rajya Sabha as MP now, is said to be making good network with BJP leaders and is trying his level best to use these contacts to make sure there is no movement in Disproportionate Assets cases in which Jagan is Accused-1 and Vijay Sai Reddy is Accused-2. Also, recently Jagan himself gave several statements that he supports BJP in almost all aspects except a few like special status and Vizag railway zone. It is to be recalled that he gave unconditional support during presidential and vice-president elections. There is nothing wrong in supporting presidential candidate as it has been a tradition to put aside political aspects during presidential election. But the way he explained media on his “unconditional support” to BJP made everyone raise eyebrows. In fact it was analyzed during Nandyala elections that – Jagan wanted to prove his mettle in Nandyala by-polls and display his charisma to BJP bigwigs so that they can give him a fair deal.

On the other side, there are other arguments put by analysts that post Nandyala, Jagan has lost his image with BJP. These analysts remind people BJP leader Purandhareswari’s comments on Jagan. She told some time before Nandyala elections that “What is wrong if Jagan becomes a close aide of BJP”. But then same Purandhareswari made comments during Kakinada (after Nandyala results out) elections that BJP doesn’t have any relation with YSRCP. Also, we can recall that Amit Shah’s statement that “NDA will go to 2019 elections with same allies” also came after Nandyala elections.

While both these arguments have substance, Jagan’s persistent efforts to be in good books of BJP top leaders and avoid surprises in his cases, leading to more people believe the first argument that Amit Shah is supporting Jagan or at least Amit Shah obliging Jagan’s active pursuits of making good relations with BJP.
