TDP keeps Boyapati Sreenu busy

Boyapati Sreenu was left in shock with the disaster of Vinaya Vidheya Rama. After a series of recent acts, he was in news frequently. But the top director soon turned busy at work and shifted his base to Vijayawada recently. He is busy directing the election advertisements of TDP from the past one month. Boyapati shares a close bond with Balakrishna and he earlier directed special videos of Krishna Pushkaralu that took place in 2016.

AP Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu wanted Boyapati to direct some concept based advertisements on TDP to use them during the elections this year. He is ensured a decent pay cheque for his work. Boyapati Sreenu on the other side is also working on the script of his next film that will feature Balakrishna in the lead role. The film starts from June and will release during Sankranthi 2020.

Tollywood’s mass director Boyapati Sreenu received a shock with Vinaya Vidheya Rama which bombed at the Sankranthi box-office. Boyapati Sreenu has been criticized for his work and the makers claimed that he spent more than the required for the project. The film is said to be made on a budget of Rs 100 crores. Now Boyapati Sreenu is all set with his next that features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. The top director is quoting Rs 70 crores budget for this prestigious project.

Boyapati and Balayya are teaming up for the third time after two blockbusters Simha and Legend. The combo carries enough craze but none of NBK’s films made Rs 70 crores at the Tollywood box-office. His recent film NTR – Kathanayakudu ended up collecting Rs 20 crores which is poor. With Boyapati and Balakrishna struggling for success, Rs 70 crores budget is a huge risk. The script work of the film is currently on and Balakrishna is yet to take the final call on the film’s budget.

We have to wait to see if Balakrishna approves the budget or if he asks Boyapati to cut down the budget for the project.

Boyapati Sreenu is undoubtedly one of the best mass helmers of Telugu cinema. With directors like VV Vinayak and Puri Jagannadh vanished, Boyapati has been carrying the legacy and is entertaining the masses. His recent outing Vinaya Vidheya Rama left the audience in shock and Boyapati is criticized for his bad work. He has been trolled across social media for the content in the second half of the film. Now with the drift with Charan and Danayya in Vinaya Vidheya Rama row, Boyapati will find it tough to convince and work with Mega heroes in the future.

Industry circles reveal that Boyapati and NTR will never work together. Mahesh – Boyapati film is speculated from years but this seems to be a dream. Mahesh too is lined up with a bunch of films and their combo may not be possible soon. For top director like Boyapati, he may not step down and work with tire two actors restricting himself in many ways.

Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati share a special bond and the duo is teaming up soon. Balakrishna who is not bothered about the film’s results is preparing himself for the project. Balakrishna and his project is the only hope for Boyapati. The mass director should bounce back with this project, else it will be real tough to find the lead actor for his next Telugu film.

Boyapati clarifies about his next with Akhil

Top director Boyapati Sreenu is currently busy with Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama which has been slated for Sankranthi 2019 release. There have been wide speculations that Boyapati locked Akhil for his next and Ram Charan will bankroll this project. Boyapati’s name was considered for Akhil’s debut film and Boyapati, Nag discussed several times about the project.

Responding on the recent speculation, Boyapati said “There is no truth that my next film will be next with Akhil. My focus is completely on Charan’s film and my next project will be with Balakrishna. My next film after Balakrishna’s project is yet to be decided and I am yet to lock the script” said Boyapati.

Nandamuri Balakrishna is eagerly waiting for the release of Paisa Vasool which is a mass and action entertainer. The actor has been keen on wrapping up films on a fast pace and aimed his next film for Sankranthi release next year. “I waited for an offer for three years. Kept my mobile and landline in my hands for a call but I never gave up. After three years, it was Boyapati Sreenu who brought me back with the character of Jithendra in Legend. Infact I am the same in my real life as Jithendra (Head strong, egoistic and arrogant). I was not in a mood to go anywhere leaving Telugu cinema and now I am here back with Jaya Janaki Nayaka. I thank Boyapati Sreenu from the bottom of the heart for bringing me back” spoke Jagapathi Babu during the success meet of Jaya Janaki Nayaka.

The actor turned quite emotional and his speech touched everyone during the event. Jagapathi Babu is now one of the busiest actors and he has movies in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages. The actor is soon making his debut in Bollywood and Jagapathi Babu himself will reveal the updates. He has interesting role assigned in Ramcharan’s next Rangasthalam 1985 directed by Sukumar which will hit the screens during December.

Boyapati’s Jaya janaki Naayaka had an average 1st week considering it clashed with other 2 films. The film was trailing behind Nene Raju Nene Mantri till end of holiday weekend and started to beat it only from the 6th day which is too late and too with a lower margins. Theatrical rights of the film are valued for more than 30 Cr and it will surpass 20cr mark by the end of its run. Producer has already suffered over a 10cr loss for the film.

Story:

Gagan (Bellamkonda Srinivas) lives with his father (Sharat Kumar) and elder brother (Nandu). They are rich industrialists. But they eat roadside food and drink daily and are used to an undisciplined lifestyle. Sweety (Rakul Preet) who is Gagan’s college friend, starts visiting his home and brings some positive change in their home etiquette. Impressed with her attitude, Gagan falls in love with her.
Meanwhile, Sweety’s father is caught in crossfire between two warring contractors Aswit Narayana Varma (Jagapati Babu) and Arun Pawar (Tarun Arora). To take revenge on Sweety’s father they try to harm Sweety but Gagan stands against all odds to protect her.
Rest of the story is how villains constantly try to attack Sweety and related people and how Gagan protects them…

Analysis:

First half of the film starts with a slow pace, runs with no substance until two villains are introduced and confronted. Contrary to typical Boyapati mass style, in this film he tried a family story and a matured love story. In songs too, director alienated from his mass style and added lot of trendy picturisation.

As the story shifts to Vizag, the interval block fight is outstanding. Bellamkonda Srinivas has a muscular physique, so fights are believable. Let’s party allnight, Rangu Rangu Kallajodu , Disco babu songs are good in first half. A non-stop step by Sai Srinivas in Just Chill song is awesome.

Second half too offers dance and fight sequences which appeal to masses. The highlight being an action block picturized at Hamsaladeevi. Rakul’s deglamourized role in second half is appreciable. In second half, the drama was appealing. However, towards the climax, the story becomes very predictable.

Veede Veede Montage song, A for apple item song ( Catherine Tresa) are visually appealing . Devi Sri Prasad’s rerecording is good.

Performances:

Bellamkonda Sreenivas has excelled in dances and fights. However, action wise he carries almost same expression throughout the film. His screen time is limited as much of the time is dedicated to bunch of villains. Jagapathi Babu is violent in the initial scenes, however his character lacked consistency. Rakul Preet Singh in her first ever performance oriented did a decent job. Catherine Tresa has done an item song.

Technicians:

Songs and Devi Sri Prasad’s Re-recording are good. Picturisation of songs is good. Rishi Punjabi’s camera work is very good. Punch dialogs on womenfolk worked well. Boyapati has shown his USP in action sequences. The story was not strong enough, so the director tried to portray the characters strongly

Verdict:

Jaya Janaki Nayaka will be liked by mass movie goers. Outstanding action episodes, well-choreographed and grandeur in the songs are the highlights. At Box-office, this movie may perform well in Telugu speaking states.⁠⁠⁠⁠
