Daggubati thanks voters for not voting for him on the YSRCP ticket!

0

Former minister Daggubati Venkateswara Rao on Monday thanked the voters of Parchuru Assembly constituency in Prakasam district for not electing him to the Assembly in the 2019 general election on the YSR Congress ticket. Interacting with his supporters, Daggubati said he would have cut a sorry figure in front of the voters for not doing anything as the YSR Congress MLAs are doing now.

He said that every YSR Congress MLAs was not able to face the voters as they did not do anything in the last five years. He said that the MLAs could not even lay a road in their constituencies in the last five years. “I would not have laid even a single road in the constituency as an MLA of the YSR Congress Party,” Daggubati said.

He said that most of the ruling party MLAs were not able to face the people as they have done nothing in the last five years. The MLAs were not made answerable to the people in any work, not even the laying of a road, he said.

The MLAs were now looking at other parties as the chief minister was denying tickets to them. Even if they were given tickets, it would be difficult for them to win the election, he said, adding that most of the ruling party MLAs were facing the same situation.

Meanwhile, it is said that Daggubati is trying to get his son moved to the opposition TDP in the coming elections. He is making his son Hitesh Chechuram to contest on the TDP ticket and thus win the election. Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna is said to be working on bringing both Daggubati Venkateswara Rao and Nara Chandrababu Naidu together ahead of the 2024 general election.

Hitesh Chenchuram would be contesting from Parchuru Assembly constituency in Prakasam district on the TDP ticket. It is to be seen if Daggubati meets Chandrababu Naidu or not as they have been at loggerheads for more than a decade.

Daggubati, Chandrababu meet after years, pose for pics

It was a rare star constellation of sorts. After a gap of several years, both TDP chief Chandrababu and Daggubati Venkateswara Rao had an occasion to bump into one another. Not only they ran into eacher, but even exchanged pleasantries and had a brief chat. In fact, both the leaders posed for a photograph after a gap of several years. This reunion in itself a news of sorts.

Both Chandrababu and Daggubati attended the pre-wedding ceremonies of the daughter of Uma Maheswari, who is the daughter of NTR. Both Chandrababu and Daggubati have married NTR’s daughters Bhuvaneswari and Purandeswari. Both are thus sons-in-law of NTR. They greeted each other and chatted briefly. They also posed for a group photo.

Both Chandrababu and Daggubati have fallen apart during 1999. Daggubati journeyed thourgh BJP, Congress and the YSRCP . In 2019, he contested on a YSRCP ticket and lost the elections. Purandeswari was in the Congress during 2009-2019 period. Later, she joined the BJP and lost in both 2014 and 2019 elections. In fact, both the sons-in-law were like the right and left shoulders of NTR. But, soon differences cropped up and they parted ways.

While Chandrababu took control of the party, Daggubati left the party after NTR’s death. They briefly came together in 1995, but soon they fell apart.

Jagan ultimatum to Daggubati family: BJP offensive

1

For CM Jaganmohan Reddy, the BJP criticism is becoming more unbearable than the main opposition TDP in Andhra. Moreover, the Modi government at the Centre is not at all supporting Jagan Circar programmes and activities. Obviously because of this, CM Jagan is under great pressure due to lack of financial resources and denial of bank loans for his ‘Navaratnalu’ Cash Transfer sops. At such a time, Jagan has decided not to go easy on BJP. He is now silently targeting BJP leaders on a par with TDP.

The immediate target is the Daggubati family. In 2019 election, Jagan was generous enough to allow Daggubati Venkateswara Rao to contest on YCP ticket in Parchuru assembly segment while his wife Purandeswari contested in Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket. Both lost but Venkateswara Rao became central figure in Parchuru segment as he is incharge of the ruling party.

But now, Jagan changed his strategy and started acting tough towards Daggubati family. He sent a message to Daggubati Venkateswara Rao to convince his wife to join YCP. If she is unwilling, then it is for Rao to join the BJP. Jagan gave a hint that it is time for Daggubati family to be in one party altogether. Venkateswara Rao is already sidelined in Parchuru affairs.

Why is Jagan targetting Daggubati family?

0

The ruling YCP has considerably reduced the influence of former MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Rao in Parchuru assembly segment. Actually, it was Jagan’s plan to make him Assembly Speaker to embarrass Chandrababu Naidu. But Venkateswara Rao was defeated and consequently he is acting as the party incharge in the segment.

In recent weeks, his recommendations for works, transfers, etc were not being entertained by officials. Moreover, his rival Raavi Ramanatham Babu is formally taken back into the party fold. Raavi left YCP earlier and played an active role in defeating Venkateswara Rao. Now, Jagan himself gave party membership to Raavi once again without even inviting Daggubati. The political twist gave rise to intense speculation over Daggubati exit from the YCP sooner than later.

Analysts say that the YCP leadership is becoming increasingly suspicious of Daggubati Purandeswari’s immediate strategies. Jagan is also having doubts whether Daggubati is part of the conspiracy to embarrass and oust his government. Anyway, the growing distance between Jagan and Modi-Shah duo is threatening immediate prospects of Venkateswara Rao.
