AP to establish 3,966 digital libraries by December

The AP government is racing against time to complete the construction of the 3,966 digital libraries by the end of December this year. The digital libraries are planned and the works were started in all major villages across the state to provide access to the youth for the competitive exams and skill development.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy told the district collectors on Tuesday through video conference to complete the construction work and keep the digital libraries ready for the new year 2023. He wanted the officials to ensure quality of the works and make sure that these digital libraries become the sources of training both in terms of knowledge and skill development.

The Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) have already become sources of inspiration for various states across the country in helping the agriculture sector in their respective states. Senior officials from various states have visited these RBKs in the two years and States like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have started rolling out this format.

Quite interestingly, the agriculture wing of the World Bank is currently touring the state and studying the RBKs to suggest the pattern in the countries where the bank is financing the farming community. The world bank officials are now touring Krishna district with the team of officials from Ethiopia, which had already collected basic data on these RBKs.

The state government is expecting the digital libraries too to become a model for other states in empowering the youth in the country. However, it is to be seen how resourceful and successful these digital libraries would turn in the bureaucracy-dominated governance.
