    Akhil Akkineni is yet to taste his first success in Telugu cinema. His third film Mr Majnu is in last leg of shoot and is directed by Venky Atluri. With bunch of films gearing up for Christmas and Sankranthi release, the makers are in plans to release the film during the Republic Day weekend. Though initially, Akhil was hesitant and wanted a comfortable, solo release for Mr Majnu.

    There have been wide speculations that NTR – Mahanayakudu will not release as announced on January 24th 2019. Now Mr Majnu is eyeing for the same date and if NTR – Mahanayakudu hit the screens on January 24th, Mr Majnu will hit the screens on January 25th 2019. The makers are keen on taking the advantage of the holiday season instead of releasing the film during February.

    Nidhhi Agerwal is the heroine and BVSN Prasad is producing Mr Majnu. Krish’s Manikarnika and Suriya’s NGK too are announced for release during the Republic Day weekend.

    Akkineni Akhil’s upcoming romantic drama Mr. Majnu was initially planned for December last week release. But, the makers have deferred their plans as a slew of films are slated for release in December. With Sankranthi season already packed with biggies, Akhil’s producer might look further for a good release date.

    There were reports that Mr.Majnu might release for Republic Day. However, there is no official confirmation on this. The second part of NTR’s biopic is releasing on January 24th. So, Akhil and his team are still in a dilemma to lock the release date. February is not an ideal month for releasing big ticket films. Despite the shooting formalities are nearing completion, the makers are not yet fully confident of the release date. So, they haven’t announced it till now.

    As Akhil is very desperate to score a much needed hit, he doesn’t want to take chance with the release date. He has asked the producer to take his own time and lock a perfect date that will help the film’s openings. So, we might need to wait some more time to know when Mr. Majnu arrives. Niddhiwal is the female lead and Venky Atluri is the director.

    Akkineni Akhil badly needs a big hit to stabilise his low lying career. For his third film, which is titled as Mr. Majnu, he is sparing no effort to deliver goods at box office. Initially, Akhil and his producer planned for December release. As there are a slew of other films lined up for release in December, there are reports that Mr Majnu us likely to release in January.

    It is a known fact that Sankranthi season is already packed with biggies like NTR biopic, Ram Charan’s flick and Venky – Varun multi-starrer. So, Akhil is aiming for Republic Day release as there are no other prominent releases at that time. Out of blue, director Krish’s latest announcement about NTR biopic has dashed Akhil’s hopes. Krish announced that the second part of NTR biopic will hit the screens on January 24th. This surprise announcement has dealt a blow to Akhil’s plans.

    NTR biopic is carrying solid craze among audience. So, Akhil’s film need to outclass NTR biopic at box office to have a strong run if it releases during the same period. It remains to be seen if Akhil and his producer will decide and lock horns with NTR biopic or will they back out from the race and look for another ideal date. Either way, it is getting tougher for Akhil who is desperate for success.

    It is a known fact that Akkineni Akhil’s debut film Akhil and his second film Hello were made on a solid budget. Unfortunately, both films ended as box office failures and buyers incurred heavy losses. Though Hello garnered good reviews, the film couldn’t break even as it was sold for high prices due to its expensive budget.

    Now, producer BVSN Prasad who is bankrolling Akhil’s third film Mr. Majnu is planning judiciously and spending the budget wisely. Reportedly, Mr Majnu is made with a limited budget between 25-30 Crores to ensure that there is no great risk involved. Majority of the shoot was done in London and the producer will get some percentage of refund from the UK government due to its tourism norms. This helped the producer to restrict the film’s budget.

    Sources say that BVSN Prasad is looking for a quality output with limited budget so that the pre release business will ensure table profits for him. He is trying his best not repeat the mistakes of Akhil’s previous producers. He is also looking for an ideal release date during Republic Day so that the film will have no big competition at box office..

    Producer BVSN Prasad initially planned to release the film in the last week of December. But, there seems to be change in the release plans of Mr. Majnu. Sources close to the team revealed that Akhil is in a dilemma over the release date. Though Christmas season is good to release the film, Akhil is looking to release the film in January.

    A slew of films are slated for release in December. So, Akhil is in not willing to take risk at this point of his career. Also, Sankranthi season is jam-packed with biggies like NTR biopic, Ram Charan – Boyapati film and F2. Reportedly, Akhil wants to release Mr. Majnu during Republic Day holiday in the last week of January as no other big ticket film is slated for release at that time.

    The teaser of Mr. Majnu received a thumping response and Akhil’s makeover got thumbs up from audience. Akhil is confident of scoring a hit this time and all he is looking for is the right time to release the film.

    Mr Majnu, Akhil3 first look

    As expected, Akhil’s third film has been titled Mr Majnu and the makers released the first look of the film through a short video that explains about the character of Akhil in the film. Akhil plays a perfect playboy in this romantic drama that has been extensively shot in London. Venky Atluri is the director and Nidhhi Agerwal is he female lead.

    The video starts off showing Akhil with a song coming on the lines “Devadasu manavadu.. Manmadhudiki vaarasudu” which explains about the role essayed by Akhil in the film. He has been spotted flirting several girls throughout and the film has been shot across some beautiful locales. Akhil looks stylish and stunning throughout in the released first look. SS Thaman’s fresh score relates well. The first look of Mr Majnu is sure a treat for Akkineni fans. Bankrolled by BVSN Prasad, Mr Majnu will hit the screens during the end of this year.

    Sarigama Cinemas bags Akhil – Venky Atluri film overseas rights

    Akkineni youngster Akhil teamed up with Tholi Prema director Venky Atluri for a romantic entertainer which is currently on floors. Reportedly, the makers have registered Mr. Majnu as the film’s title.

    Telugu360 has exclusively learnt that the overseas rights of Mr. Majnu have been snapped for 3 Crores by Sarigama Cinemas . This is a decent price considering Akhil’s market in overseas. His debut film left no trace at box office, but his second film Hello, which couldn’t excite domestic audience, managed to wow overseas audience as the film ended with a million dollar gross there.

    Venky Atluri’s debut film Tholi Prema, with Varun Tej in the lead role, fared well in overseas and emerged as a profitable venture for buyers. So, trade circles have decent expectations on Akhil’s film. This is one of reasons why the film is sold for a decent price in overseas.

    BVSN Prasad is bankrolling the film.
