The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday issued summons to TRS Khammam Lok Sabha member Nama Nageshwar Rao.

Nama was directed to appear before ED for questioning on June 25.

It may be recalled that the ED on June 11 raided offices and residences of Nama Nageshwar Rao in connection with Rs 1,064 crore bank fraud case.

Raids were conducted simultaneously at six locations on residences and offices of Nama in Hyderabad and Khammam. The ED reportedly found huge unaccounted cash during raids and seized. It also seized crucial files and documents.

The CBI had booked case in 2019 and filed charge sheet in 2020 Ranchi Expressway Ltd and its directors.

Nama Prithvi Teja is the director of Ranchi Expressway. The firms belonging to Nama Nageshwar Rao obtained Rs 1,064 loans from banks but diverted the money for other purposes. The loans were obtained to lay four-lane road of 163-km stretch between Ranchi and Jamshedpur.

The NHAI awarded the contract to Ranchi Expressway Ltd owned by Nama’s Madhucon Project Ltd but Nama’s firms failed to take up works and even defaulted on repayment of loans. With this, banks declared loans as NPA and filed cases against Nama’s firms.

Nama Nageshwar Rao is the personal guarantor for the loans.

A criminal case has been lodged against former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao in Jubilee Hills police station. An individual named CK Ramakrishna filed the complaint. According to police, ‘CK Ramakrishna is native of Hyderabad and used to live in Jubilee Hills Road No. 45. He is currently working in the US.

While he was in the US, his wife Sujatha Ramakrishna brought to his notice that, former TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao used to harass him, asking her to divorce his husband and maintain an illicit marital affair. Nama Nageswara Rao used to frequently visit Sujatha Ramakrishna’s house in Rd. No 45, Jubilee Hills.

CK Ramakrishna asked Sujatha to file a complaint against Nama Nageswara Rao in the police station when he was informed about the issue. After CK Ramakrishna came to Hyderabad, he was shocked to know about few things.

Sujatha confessed to her husband that she is having an illicit affair with Nama Nageswara Rao, and also stated that, the former MP and his brother are pressurizing her to divorce her husband’.
A case has been filed on Nama Nageswara and his brother Seethayya under multiple IPC sections.

TDP’s Parliamentary Party leader in the previous Lok Sabha and was known as the wealthiest Parliamentarian Nama Nageswara Rao is known heard or seen among party circles these days. When TDP was in opposition he had played crucial role as a close associate of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. But after his failure to re-elect from Khammam constituency in 2014, political compulsions forcing him to play low prfile.

A prominent businessmen in infrastructure sector, he used to be `voice of Chandrababu Naidu’ in New Delhi, on the lines the role presently played by Union Minister of State Sujana Choudary. Since a year, he seems to be almost deserted from TDP. His followers indicating that he would contest in 2019 elections, but not as a TDP candidate. Now speculations are arising in Khammam on his next political destination.

In 2009 he gained prominence by defeating most outspoken Renuka Chowdary (Congress). But he was defeated by Ponguleti Srsinivasa Reddy (YSRCP), who is now shifted to TRS.

The main grudge of present Telangana’s R&B Minister Thummala Nagaswara Rao to desert TDP was party supremo Chandrababu Naidu started promoting Nageswara Rao, who turned against him in the district politics. But now realising that TDP’s foundations were collapsed in the district and there would be no scope for the party to revive here, Nageswara Rao seems to be in search of better options.

For him, as a prime businessmen, returning to Parliament would be top priority. Only options available before him are TRS and Congress. In TRS already his political-rival Thummala Nageswara Rao is closely identified with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Moreover, sitting MP is with the ruling party. In Congress, influential Renuka Choudary would be a major hurdle for him. However, his supporters are confident that he has resources to influence powers that matters in whichever party he may chose.
