Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N ChandraBabu Naidu started the Nava Nirmana Deeksha by starting a Padyatra from Bandar Road to Benz Circle. The TDP leader made provoking statements and said that today is an unforgettable in AP history. Chief Minister said that the way the state got divided was most painful and emphasized the need to rebuild the state. As the counter part is celebrating formation day, the AP CM termed it a “Dark Day” in the history of Navyandhra Pradesh. Quoting the example of countries that collapsed in World War II he said that they were rebuilt and are a role model today. He said that the development of Navyandhra should be done with the same spirit . He critiqued that the congress government boasted that it will build a city better than Delhi in AP. The CM repeatedly said that the division of the state was not rational and that there is no point in feeling sad.

Speaking about the Special Category Status, he blamed fourteenth finance commission recommendations. He said despite all the issues, the state stands tall in GSDP and ease of doing business. He iterated the need to improve the per-capita income. He registered the oath that people should remember the damage done by the division and focus on the development. The Deeksha is being conducted in towns and villages throughout the state.

Nava Nirmana Deeksha

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government is getting ready for the week-long Nava Nirmana Deeksha from June 2 this year. The Deeksha is the brain child of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to inspire people to dedicate themselves for the rebuild of the State after the bifurcation. The government holds several programmes all through the week inspiring people and rededicate themselves overcoming the crisis that was forced on them through bifurcation.

The event was held with Vijayawada as Central point for the past two years where Chief Minister takes the lead. The busy Benz Circle is blocked for the event with the officials diverting the national highway traffic for the week. This year, the government appears to have decided initially to have the Chief Minister-led event to other places – either in East Godavari or West Godavari district.

A Cabinet sub-committee consisting of Ministers Kaluva Srinivasulu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy have discussed the possibilities of holding the event outside Vijayawada this time to inspire the people. However, they have left the decision to the Chief Minister who is currently on visit to US. The Committee would meet once again on May 15 to make a clear plan for the Deeksha.

The week-long event which starts on June 2, the bifurcation day, ends on June 8 with the Chief Minister leading the pledge with the people to work for the development of the State utilising the available resources, both natural and human.

The State which has not been celebrating the Formation Day is all set to miss that this time too as the government wants to hold only the Nava Nirmana Deeksha. It is to be seen where it would be held this time as the Chief Minister has to decide.
