Rakul missed 2018, will she shine again in 2019?
Rakul Preet singh completely missed 2018 in Tollywood.After Spyder in 2017, none of her movies released in Telugu. Her next film in Telugu will be NTR but she is doing just a cameo in that movie.
Rakul Preet Singh got break with Venkatadri express in 2013, though she started her film career in 2009 itself in Kannada. After 2013, her career has been consistent and she did at least couple of movies per year in Telugu. 2016 was very good year for her as she got back to back success like Nannaku Prematho, Sarrainodu, and Dhruva. In 2017 also she did good roles in Rarandoi Veduka Chudham and Jaya Janaki Nayaka. But after Spyder, she focused on bollywood and did Aiyaary movie.
Now as per latest reports, she is again focusing on Telugu offers and she is in discussions with critically acclaimed director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. Nithiin is hero of this film. We will have to wait and see if Rakul will shine again in Tollywood in 2019
There’s sense of achievement playing Sridevi’s role: Rakul Preet Singh
Actress Rakul Preet Singh says playing the role of late veteran actress Sridevi in the upcoming NTR biopic is an achievement for her.
Talking about playing Sridevi in the film, Rakul said: “I am truly honoured and excited to play role of Srideviji in NTR biopic. When I was approached for that role, I asked the makers that they really think that I can pull it off because she is the first Indian female superstar. She was such a fine and legendary actress.”
She says the responsibility of essaying her role is even more now.
“I was feeling really scared hoping that I will be able to do justice to it but there is sense achievement as well because if makers thought that I can play her role then, I will give my best for the film,” she said at The Wedding Junction Show 2018 here.
The biopic is based on the life of yesteryear superstar NT Rama Rao. Actress Vidya Balan has reportedly been roped in to play NTR’s wife Basavatarakam in it. The film will also star Bengali actor Jisshu, who will be seen portraying the role of filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke awardee LV Prasad. He had launched NTR in films in 1949 with Mana Desam.
Directed by Krish J, the film is being jointly produced by N Balakrishna, who plays the title role in the film, Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati.
Asked about the ongoing #MeToo movement in India, Rakul said, “It’s very good that we have started this kind of movement but I think we have to draw lines when it comes to deciding what is right and what is wrong. Cases of attempt to rape and flirting cannot come in one bracket therefore, I hope genuine cases don’t get diluted as so many of cases are coming out in the open.”
The 28-year-old actress says she fully supports women who are coming out and sharing their stories.
“It’s great that women will be respected and there will be much cleaner and safer environment for women at their workplace,” she added.
In Bollywood, Rakul will soon be seen sharing screen space with actor Ajay Devgn in Luv Ranjan’s upcoming production “De De Pyaar De”.
“There is another Hindi film which I have signed recently and it will be announced within a week. Apart from that, I am working in three Tamil movies. One of them will release in December and remaining two will release next year. There are two Telugu films as well which will release next year and one of them is NTR’s biopic”
“De De Pyaar De” is a romantic comedy by Akiv Ali, who will mark his directorial debut.
Rakul Preet’s request to Balayya
Leggy lass Rakul Preet Singh is short of offers in Tollywood. She hasn’t signed any big ticket films in recent times. Amidst the career crisis, the Spyder actress is desperate to be a part of NTR biopic.
Reportedly, Rakul Preet is keen on essaying even a small role in this prestigious film as she hopes that it will give a much boost to her low lying career. It is learnt that Rakul has approached Balayya and requested him to offer a role in the biopic. Balayya also seems to have promised to include her name in the long list of artists for the biopic.
As the biopic focusses much on NTR’s film career, the makers are surely going to bring in an array of stars for essaying the roles of different stars who were contemporaries of NTR. So, it is likely that Rakul Preet might be lucky enough to come on board for the biopic. We have to wait and see what character will Balayya offer to Rakul.

Rakul’s Bollywood outing is a Disaster
Tollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh who was occupied with back to back Telugu films tested her luck back in Bollywood with Aiyaary after a huge gap. The film directed by Neeraj Pandey featured Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles. Aiyaary released last friday and it has been declared as a disaster. The film even failed to register some decent openings at the box-office during the first weekend.
Aiyaary is the lowest opening weekend grosser for Sidharth Malhotra and it collected Rs 11.70 crores in three days across the country. Rakul has been shattered with the film’s result as the actress pinned many hopes on the film. She even spent ample time on the promotions. Continuous change in the release dates and the poor trailer made the film a disaster. Right from the first show, the film received negative word of mouth which made the film fall flat.

SPYder to have a gigantic release in overseas
Superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming social drama SPYder is one of the highly anticipated films this season. This is the first time Mahesh joined hands with director Murugadoss who has the reputation of delivering message oriented commercial entertainers. The duo are aiming very with SPYder which is gearing up release on September 27th.
In overseas, SPYder to going to have a gigantic release in more than 600 screens which is going to be the second highest release in the history of Indian cinema. The film, an authentic bilingual, will release in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously through leading overseas distributors ATMUS and AZ India. The Telugu version alone will release in nearly 400 screens. The overseas rights of the film were sold for a staggering price and the massive release will definitely ensure strong openings in all areas. The premiers are slated to start on 26th.
SPYder is tipped to a spy thriller with high range technical values offering a visual extravaganza for audience. Harris Jayaraj composed the soundtrack and Santosh Sivan cranked the camera.

Rakul Preet joins Sidharth for ‘Aiyaary’ in London
Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet Singh have together kick-started the shooting for their upcoming film “Aiyaary” in London.
Sidharth, who was previously shooting for the film in India, took to Instagram to share a small video in which he can be seen walking on streets in London.
“Walking to set London shoot ‘Aiyaary’,” he wrote alongside the image.
Earlier, Rakul also took to Twitter to share that she has finished shooting for “Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru” and is now off to London for “Aiyaary” shoot.
“It’s a wrap for ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’. Super kicked about this one… Now onto ‘Aiyaary’ London calling. Work mode,” Rakul tweeted on Friday.
“Aiyaary” features Sidharth as an army officer along with Manoj Bajpayee. It is based on a real life incident that revolves around two strong-minded army officers having completely different views, and are yet right in their own ways.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film will also feature veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and is slated for a release on January 26, 2018.
Nag promises a Blockbuster with Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam
King Nagarjuna is not only an actor and he has been producing films on his prestigious Annapurna Studios banner. Nag has the highest success rate as a producer and after a small gap, he is producing Chaitu’s next movie Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam which said to be a clean family entertainer. Kalyan Krishna directed the movie and Naga Chaitanya, Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu and Sampath Raj are the lead actors. The makers arranged a special press meet today.
Speaking about the film, Nag said “I spent days in the editing room for this film. I decided to meet the press when I am confident about the film. I promise a blockbuster with Rarandoy Veduka Chuddam. Kalyan did a fantastic job and the film is all about the emotional journey of four characters. I kept a close eye on the movie right from the shoot and it is how it shaped quite well. Jagapathi Babu will be seen in a never seen role and Rakul will play a village girl named Bramaramba in the movie”.
Produced by Annapurna Studios, Rarandoy Veduka Chuddam is all set for May 19th release. Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer.
Speculations rife on SPYder climax
Mahesh Babu’s forthcoming spy thriller Spyder was supposed to wrap up the shooting formalities by the end of this month. But according to the latest update from the production house, the shooting might extend till the last week of May. This has given raise numerous rumours in the last couple of days.
It has been widely speculated that Murugadoss is planning two climax episodes for the film. Also, rumours are rife that some scenes are being reshoot as the team is not happy with them. However, close sources to the team are denying both these reports. The reason for the delay is said to be because the film is shot as a bilingual and Murugadoss is taking utmost care while shooting each scene in Telugu and Tamil.
It remains to be seen if the film arrives in theatres on June 23rd as announced by its makers previously or will it be pushed ahead. Rakul Preet Singh is the heroine and SJ Suryah is playing the antagonist in the film.
Rakul to Romance Mahesh Again?
Superstar Mahesh Babu is currently shooting for Spyder which is in final stages of shoot. AR Murugadoss is the film’s director and Mahesh is romancing Rakul Preet Singh for the first time. Rakul has been quite excited about teaming up with Mahesh in Spyder after she missed an opportunity to work with him Brahmotsavam. The latest update we hear is that Rakul is all set to romance Mahesh once again after Spyder. Koratala Siva will direct the movie which will start rolling next month.
Mahesh and Koratala are keen on roping Rakul for the female lead’s role. Keerthy Suresh and Shruti Haasan have been considered for the role earlier however Rakul Preet Singh is almost locked. An official announcement will be out soon and the movie has been titled Bharat anu Nenu. Mahesh will be seen as a Chief Minister in the film and Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music. Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s Sarrainodu is one of the eagerly awaited films this summer. Directed by Mr. Boyapati Srinu, the film features Rakul Preet Singh and Catherine Tresa as the female leads. Produced by Allu Aravind on a spectacularly high budget, Sarrainodu created a huge buzz in the trade circles with solid pre-release business in all areas. Let us see how this movie has shaped up.
Story (Spoiler-Free) :
Gana (Allu Arjun), a member of the State Chief Secretary’s family, is a military veteran living in Hyderabad. Gana thinks it is funny to flirt with Hanshita Reddy (Catherine Tresa), an MLA. Meanwhile near Khammam, the Chief Minister’s son Vairam Dhanush ( Aadi Pinisetty), establishes a ruthless mafia specializing in land grabbing, rape and murder. Saikumar, a friend of State Chief Secretary, lives in this terror ridden area with his daughter Rakul Preet Singh. A land grabbing incident triggers rivalry between Saikumar and Vairam Dhanush. The consequences of this fight and how it makes Gana the person to make things right, make up the rest of the story.
What worked well ?
Firstly, in spite of the trailers depicting the movie as an out and out mass entertainer, the movie has some decent family attracting elements as well, especially in the first half. The director took time to well establish the characters in the initial phase of the movie. Allu Arjun’s role has three dimensions to it: a family member, a lover and an action hero. With a total body language make over, he excelled in every aspect of this role making him sarrainodu for the role. In spite of the script lending to more than life characterization, Arjun made sure to keep his acting subtle – directly resulting in very good performance. Arjun’s performance deserves a special mention during the court scene in the first half of the movie.
Coming to the rest of the cast, Aadi Pinisetty was perfect for the villain role, stylish and ruthless. Brahmanandam, who has failed to evoke much laughter in the recent times, did not fail too bad this time. Vidyullata Raman’s role as a tamil lady, was funny – a little bit. Rakul Preet Singh could have done better in a meatier role, she certainly has the talent and the glamor.
Well composed fights, though a couple of them could have done better, had proper emotions been built into the scenes leading to them. At the same time, it could be said that by leveraging Allu Arjun’s super macho looks, the fights had a raw feel to them. For you fitness freaks, Allu Arjun with his perfectly toned biceps, is a treat to watch.
The second half of the film, with a lengthy comedy sequence featuring Pradeep Rawat and 30 years industry experience Prudhvi was well featured.
Songs are OK, a couple them looked great onscreen: “This is a private party”, “Block BusterE”
What should have been better ?
Songs – Allu Arjun’s movies usually do well in the music department, this time no so much The songs are pretty ordinary, except for the two mentioned earlier. The script has many loose ends and is slow at times, not a working formula with the audience today.
The single point confrontation in the second half, lacked the elements to make it right and it just fizzled out. Additionally the back to back action scenes in the last 30 minutes of the movie, may not connect with the mass audience.
Verdict :
Allu Arjun, who is on top gear with back to back hits like Race Gurram , S/O Satya murthy , may not be able to work his magic this time round. While other mass heroes are trying to cater more to overseas and urbane audience in India, surprisingly, Allu Arjun has done this violent filled action movie which may not go well with these audiences. However, there is still hope for the movie this summer, thanks to due to Allu Arjun’s stardom. So should you watch this movie? – Hmm, yeah, may be for Allu Arjun’s performance, if you have time to spare.

Nannaku Prematho Spain schedule from Nov 24th
NTR’s 25th film Nannaku Prematho is one of the highly anticipated films this season. The shooting of the film is going on at a brisk pace from the past two months. 80 percent shoot has been completed and the post production work is also going on simultaneously. Already most part of editing and DI works have been completed.
The fresh schedule will kick start from today in Hyderabad. Some crucial scenes and a song will be shot in this schedule. The Spain schedule will start the 24th of this month. This schedule will be wrapped up by December 10th. With this, the entire shooting will be completed barring one song.
Sukumar is directing this action entertainer and BVSN Prasad is producing it. Rakul Preet Singh is the heroine in the film which also features Jagapathi Babu and Rajendra Prasad. Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer. The film is slated to hit the screens on January 8,2016.
Lucky Mascot or Unlucky Heroine?
In Tollywood, among all the factors considered none works as superstitiously as lady luck for success in box office. For years, the hero and the maker team of any film typically hunt for that lucky charm who will rain fortune and luck and eventual box office success for the incumbent film. So, any heroine who has a golden run with a string of hits in recent past is sure to become a hot commodity – and if the heroine has glamor, she becomes that much hotter. Rakul Preet Singh has been one such sought-after heroine who hit a purple patch until recently. All that has changed with “Kick-2“.
Things are just happening for this lissome and presentable heroine despite her growing command over language and a string of hits beginning with her debut film – “Venkatadri Express”. Some of the most-celebrated heroines in recent times all had similar golden runs until interrupted by a flop or two and then, one fine day, they get branded overnight as “iron leg” heroines instead of “golden leg” heroines. Take the example of Samantha. After a series of hits beginning her debut film ” Ye Maaya Chesaave”, she turned the tables on many established heroines like Kajal Agarwal and Trisha to bag meaty roles. Her good run became bigger with “Brindaavanam” and other films with Superstar Mahesh but the box-office success became unpredictable after the second film with NTR Jr. bombed. After “Ramayya Vasthaavayya” came “Rabhasa” and then a string of films including dubbed versions of Suriyaa starrer “Sikindar” in which the magic of Samantha faltered. Even the winning combo of Nag Chaitanya -Samantha didn’t help in “Autonagar Surya.” When the film “Manam” became a blockbuster, however, the credit did go to Samantha but got divided over multiple stars including the evergreen ANR. Moral of the story: Tollywood is indeed sexist and easily fixes blame on the heroines when things go wrong or luck runs out. Only the rarest of the rare heroines in modern times have the pluck to re-work the magic and earn their spurs.
One of them is Shruti Hassan. Remember the early films in her career with Siddharth and NTR Jr. – “Oh My Friend” and “Ramayya Vastaavayya”. For many films, she was branded as the unlucky heroine with an iron leg. For “Gabbar Singh”, she didn’t get the credit as it was Pawan Kalyan’s movie. But then “Race Gurram” came and changed perceptions of her screen presence and presentatbility forever. She became the new darling of the Telugu film industry with a repertoire of skills from dancing to sensuality and feminine grace being the talking points. And she grew from strength to strength and is today the most-sought after heroine in Tollywood. She is the new “lucky mascot” of Tollywood as all her recent films are blockbusters and she is on a roll. Has she really been lucky? Maybe, but she worked her way up to get to this point. All the heroines who get swayed by the momentary titles of lucky mascot should learn from Shruti Hassan how to shake off stereotypes and play to their strengths.
Rakul Preet Singh is going through the same lean patch with recent flops like “Kick-2” and “Bruce Lee” that many heroines have gone through at some point in their careers after bouts of tremendous initial success – Ileana, Kajal, Tamannah and many others. The trouble with Tollywood is: everybody else who is part of a film – producer, director, hero, music composer, script writer and dialogue writer, cinematographer are judged on the basis of their ability and hard-work but only heroines get branded as lucky or unlucky. It is time the heroines take things in their stride and create their own sense of identity for the work they do in Telugu films. They are as professional as anybody else and to fall for the praise of being a lucky mascot is the easier way out but that won’t be enough to prove your stamina in the industry. The real reason film flops is not because of a heroine but because of other strong reasons like lack of good story, screenplay, music and overall feel of the film. To blame it on heroines when things are not happening and to praise them to the skies when things are on a roll is sexist attitude and should be shunned by all.
Bollywood actress joins Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee is an upcoming action cum family entertainer starring Ram Charan and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles. Srinu Vaitla is directing the film and DVV Danayya is producing it. The film’s shoot is nearing completion and will release on October 16th.
As per an exclusive update, Bollywood actress Tisca Chopra is roped in for a crucial role in the film. The 41 year old actress has got decent films to her credit in Hindi. This will be her first film in Telugu. Already, another Bollywood actress, Krithi Kharbanda, is a part of Bruce Lee and she is playing Charan’s sister. The audio launch event will take place in the last week of this month.

Ram Charan‘s Bruce Lee is racing against time to release on October 16th. Audio release function of the film will be held on September 27th 2015 in Hyderabad. Novotel Convention Center or Shilpa Kala Vedika will be the venue of this grand event. Presently a song is being picturized on Charan in Annapoorna Studios, Hyderabad.

Exclusive : Megastar to join ‘Bruce Lee’ from Sep 12 th
It is well known that Megastar Chiranjeevi is doing a cameo in Ram Charan’s upcoming film, Bruce Lee. Close sources to Chiranjeevi informed us that he will take part in the shooting from September 12th. ‘Chiranjeevi will be playing a 15 minute cameo in the film, added the source. Some crucial scenes between Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan will be shot for a couple of days.
