Bollywood tent pole film Sanju, a film which is touted as a biopic on Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role has stormed the worldwide box office after its release last Friday. While domestic revenues are top notch, the overseas collections are sensational in all areas.

After embarking on a terrific start with a $ 790K haul on Friday, there is no stopping the Raj Kumar Hirani directional as it ended the weekend on a high note with Saturday’s $ 1.01 M and $ 910K on Sunday.

Extending its sensational run, Sanju has overshadowed the collections of some of recent Bollywood biggies like Padmavaat on first Monday and Tuesday. As per the trade reports, Sanju notched up $ 463K and $ 610K on Monday and Tuesday and beat Padmavaat by a large margin which collected $ 371K and $ 526K on the same days.

Tollywood’s buddy comedy Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi directed by Pelli Choopulu fame Tharun Bhascker, which had a moderate first weekend, managed to surpass the $ 425K by the end of first Tuesday.

Sanjay Dutt’s biopic Sanju released on Friday and the film has been declared as a massive blockbuster all over. The film opened with a bang across the globe and the Saturday, Sunday figures have been exceptional all over. Sanju collected Rs 120.06 crores in three days of its run across the country. Sanju emerged as the highest first weekend grosser ever among Hindi films. The movie raked Rs 46.71 crores on Sunday alone which is the highest single day collection in the history of Bollywood.

Sanju crossed Salman Khan’s Tiger Zindai which grossed Rs 115 crores in its opening weekend across India. Trade analysts predict that Sanju will emerge as the highest grosser of the year among the Hindi films. Rajkumar Hirani directed the film and Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal as Sanjay Dutt has been receiving exceptional response. Vidhu Vinod Chopra produced Sanju while Paresh Rawal and Vicky Kaushal essayed other prominent roles.

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju, an emotional tribute to Bollywood stalwart actor Sanjay Dutt, has opened to thumping reports from all quarters. The film took a fantastic start at ticket windows and is likely to emerge as one of the biggest openers in Bollywood this year.

In overseas, the film has embarked on a superb start at box office. After raking in $ 760K on its first Friday, Sanju has effortleslessly surpassed the million dollar mark even before the Saturday is half done. Going by the current trend, the biopic is likely to have a super solid weekend in overseas.

Directed by Raj Kumar Hirani, the film has Paresh Rawal and Anushka Sharma in important roles.
