Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha is gearing up for a grand release on April 21st. Worldwide theatrical rights of the film are valued at 25 Cr which is the highest ever for a SDT starrer. Advance bookings for the film are below par but given a positive wom from the noon show it can have a very good weekend with Saturday being a holiday for EID which will also help during eve/night shows on Friday.

Supreme hero Sai Dharam Tej is currently on a signing spree. His next film was launched today with a formal puja ceremony in Hyderabad. The film marks the directorial debut of Jayanth Panuganti. BVSN Prasad bankrolling the film under the banner of the famous production company Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra LLP.

The muhurtham scene today was given a clap by Sai Dharam Tej. Bapineedu Bhogavalli switched on the camera. Pooja formalities was done by SDT’s mother. The blockbuster director Buchi Babu Sana attended the launch event as guest.

On this occasion, producer BVSN Prasad stated, “Our production company has a special relationship with Sai Dharam Tej.” He is currently working on another film under our production banner. We’re making the film as a family entertainment to appeal to a wide range of audiences. The film’s production will begin soon.”

“We will soon provide information on other actors and technical experts in the film,” he said.

A hat-trick of disasters : Mega heroes disappoint trade big-time

It is turning out to be a embarrassing season for Mega fans as their heroes delivered a hat-trick of disasters in the last couple of months.

2017 started off in style for Mega family as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150 emerged as the biggest Sankranthi grosser ever. But, since then it has been a disastrous year for Mega heroes.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Winner, which released in February, bombed at the box office and ended as the biggest disaster in Sai’s career. The film failed to recover investments in all territories.

Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu which released last month with heavy expectations, too, ended as a loss venture in many areas. Despite raking strong revenues in the first week, the film was termed as a disaster by distributors as it failed to break even in major areas.

Continuing the Mega flop saga, Varun Tej’s latest offering Mister is also heading towards becoming a disaster. The film’s collections are very miserable in both the Telugu states and it is likely to end as one of the biggest flops of all time.

All in all, barring Khaidi No 150, the rest of Mega films disappointed the trade circles big-time so far in 2017. Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham and Ram Charan’s next film are scheduled for release in the second half of this year. We have to wait and see if these two films can bring some cheer to both fans and trade circles.

SDT in Shathamanam Bhavathi director’s next ?

Sankranthi release Shathamanam Bhavati not only minted solid revenues but also won national award in Best Popular Film category. The film’s director Satish Vegesna has bagged many accolades for his clean slate narration. He is once again scripting a family drama and has already registered Srinivas Kalyanam title under Dil Raju’s banner.

According to the latest update, Satish has approached Sai Dharam Tej recently for this film. It is learnt that Sai is impressed with the script and sounded optimistic about signing the project. However, an official confirmation will be out only once he signs the dotted line. The Subramanyam For Sale actor is currently busy shooting for BVS Ravi’s Jawan.

Dil Raju is also busy producing multiple projects which are in different stages of production. A clearer picture about the casting of Srinivas Kalyanam will be out very soon.
