Seethamma Vakitlo sirimalle Chettu Verdict: Hit

After delivering a blockbuster family entertainer like ‘Srimanthudu’, Prince Mahesh babu is coming after a gap of 9 months with colorful ‘Brahmotsavam’, on 20th May. Directed by Srikanth Addala, under the production of Pearl V. Potluri, Mahesh Babu has not only co-produced the film, but also started promoting the film aggressively. Mahesh babu gave an exclusive interview to Telugu360.com as a part of promoting the movie on May 15th in Park Hyatt hotel, Hyderabad. He answered all the questions with great panache in this freewheeling conversation.

This film is coming after a blockbuster “Srimanthudu”. What can we expect from this movie?

This movie will be hitting the screens on 20th of this month and it’s going to impress all types of audience. Our team is very confident about the movie. The movie deals with family relations of each individual as nowadays, the people are choosing their careers more than their family values. This movie will be a big reminder of one’s responsibility in the family. It will be a fantastic mixture of family emotions and sentiments. Each and every scene turned out more emotional and natural rather than being over dramatic. There will be a hidden sensible love story underneath this emotional journey.

When did you accept the script?

I accepted this movie while I was doing ‘Srimanthudu’. Director Srikanth Addala approached me and narrated this script. I was very much impressed by the script and immediately I gave a nod. It’s my luck to work in a film like this after the sensational feel good family entertainer ‘Srimanthudu’ as I am trying to attempt different films.

This is your second project with Srikanth Addala… how is it working with him for second time?

I have done ‘Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ with him. He has unique working style, this Brahmotsavam has nothing to do with with the “Seetamma..”movie. Even though both films fall under family entertainers, this script has been handled with different style by him. This story and script is entirely fresh.

How did the director handle the entire star cast?

While narrating the story , then itself , Srikanth explained me total casting. We met at least 200 times for this movie discussions. I am really lucky to have Brahmotsavam after Srimanthudu.This story has different contrast all together.

Mahesh in ‘Brahmotsavam’ is looking much younger than Mahesh in ‘Srimanthudu’?

(Giggles) Yes. Srikanth told me about my character and how it looks when he was narrating the script. I realized that the director wants a young face for the character, as the script needs it. So he designed my character as young as possible.

The poster in which you offer Sandals to the feet of some important character has created gaga. Didn’t you get any kind of heat from the fans?

Touching the feet of elders for blessings in our Indian Tradition and I feel nothing wrong in doing it. This is the main element in this movie. It deals with our culture, tradition, family values, ethics and emotions. Everyone asked the same when we released the cycle poster for the movie “Srimanthudu” but they understood the poster after watching the movie. I am confident that fans won’t be dissatisfied after watching this movie.

How far this movie would help you in your career?

Wait for a week and you will get the answer for this question for everyone. This movie will bring good name for each and every character along with me.

How is it working with Satyaraj and your brother Naresh?

It’s so good to work with Satyaraj sir as he is a great artist. I used to watch his films while I was studying in Chennai. Its my first time working with Naresh garu in my career. I worked with him in a song. Working with him is comfortable.

All our movies are screened in America first. The openings in India are depending on the reports from America. How far is this true?

That depends on the movie. A good movie will always be received well anywhere. ‘Brahmotsavam’ is a nice movie and it won’t disappoint anyone. I have told the same for my last movie ‘Srimanthudu’ as well.

Everyone thinks about Tirupati while we hear the word ‘Brahmotsavam’. Have you done shooting there?

We haven’t done shooting there. We have shot mostly outdoors like Haridwar, Varanasi, Udaipur etc.., This movie has been shot in more locations among all movies in my career.

You have been called by “Chinnoda” in SVSC. What can we expect in this?

PVP has done the movie ‘Oopiri’ as bilingual. Why don’t you do the same as you have huge market and following?

I have planned my next movie in the same way. My next film is going to be with the director A.R Murugadoss and this will be be a bilingual. Thus, he concluded the interview.
