Still feel Friday release pressure, says Taapsee Pannu

0

Actress Taapsee Pannu says that she takes “ownership” of every films she works in and therefore feels pressure on every Friday morning whenever her movie is hitting the box office.

“Oh I do. I just got the Telugu release last Friday so I do get the pressure because I take the ownership of my films. I just don’t let it go and ride it on other names… that’s why I get that pressure,” Taapsee told IANS on the sidelines of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2017 where she walked for designer Divya Reddy.

Taapsee is currently excited for the trailer launch, on Monday, of her much-awaited film “Judwaa 2” where she stars alongside Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez.

“I am excited to see the reaction. People are going to see my glamorous side in the film. They have to publish the trailer twice to understand if that is me (laughed). I don’t know how they are going to react so I am definitely waiting to see the reaction,” she said.

Divya Reddy made a strong fashion statement when she declared green as the new black, at 6Degree Studio during Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017.

The USP of Divya’s collection was the fabric, which had a great fashion story. The Kolam tribe in the Kawal forest collect cocoons after the flight of the butterflies. These were turned into exquisite silk, spun by using double spun technique, where the broken strands are double spun and stuck together to create strong silk yarn with a slubby nature called Madhepur Tussar.

She used its regal texture for her glorious creations. One of the prime qualities of the fabric is the ability to keep the body warm in winter and cool in summer so Divya’s collection will have a year round appeal and truly long fashion life.

In true show stopper fashion, Tapsee wore the hottest shade of pink, breaking the monotony of the muted tones of green and salmon pink. Wearing a stunning floor-length, long-sleeved, intricately, embellished jacket over a sheer delicately embroidered piece, her outfit was a definite trendsetter for women who want to make their mark in the crowd and look glamorous.

“If she will allow, I can take this outfit and wear it at all the weddings that I have to attend. I genuinely feel that we as an Indians are actually mistaking fashion. Our outfit overpowers the personality… that’s where I feel a lot of us are going wrong and that’s why I keep it simple in a way that my personality needs to gel with the outfit.. it needs to shine out,” Tapsee told IANS.

There’s obsession for female’s body everywhere: Taapsee Pannu

0

Actress Taapsee Pannu, who has apologised for her comment on southern cinema’s midriff craze, says the obsession for a female body exists everywhere.

The actress, who made a strong statement about how a woman’s “no means no” with the hard-hitting drama “Pink”, was trolled after she featured in a comic video wherein she spoke about how in her debut Telugu movie “Jhummandi Naadam” (2010) director K. Raghavendra Rao had a coconut thrown at her navel to add “sensuality”.

It’s a sequence oft repeated in the filmmaker’s films — but there are usually flowers or fruits instead of a coconut.

“There’s an obsession for a female’s body everywhere. Do I need to name some songs in Bollywood that have some weird obsessions? It’s not just there (in the southern film industry),” Taapsee told IANS on the sidelines of the 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards held here last week.

“I was just sharing my experience because I have seen that in south, and that glamour bit has not happened with me in Bollywood yet,” added the actress, who has featured in films like “Baby” and “Naam Shabana”, apart from “Pink” — all of which saw her portray intense characters.

Taapsee says that her comment in the video was “misconstrued” by the media which led to it being blown out of proportion. She apologised nevertheless because she wanted “peace”.

She says it has become hard for celebrities to express their views “as some part of the media has become trolls”.

“People thought I was trying to humiliate the director who launched me, which obviously was not the case. I am not that stupid. I always give credit to him (for my career) and have always said that he is a man with the Midas Touch.

“He is known to launch very big stars. Why will I go and be hurtful or disrespectful towards him? Some people just don’t know how to interpret what one says and they manage to see the glass half empty.”

It’s because she “can’t stand so much hatred” that she then decided to issue an apology.

“It’s like you step on someone accidentally, and you apologise for it even when it wasn’t intentional.”

Yet, Taapsee enjoys the social media platform as it gives her accessibility to her fans.

“I have seen the good side (of social media) too. Otherwise I would have gone off it. Just because of one thing, I don’t want to give up on all the good that it has… The accessibility it gives.

“I could even share my apology so widely due to social media. I want to look at the glass half full. I am happy being there… It is part and parcel of the game,” Taapsee said.

For now, her face lights up as soon as one mentions David Dhawan’s upcoming potboiler “Judwaa 2” in which she features with Varun Dhawan.

Taapsee says she finally felt like a “quintessential Bollywood heroine” with the “big film, big sets, big director, big producer and big actors”.

Actress apologizes to Raghavendra Rao

0

Last week, a video in which Tapsee was seen taking potshots at her Telugu debut film director K. Raghavendra Rao for flaunting heroines mid riff went viral in social media. Tapsee made a mockery of the director’s idea of exposing her navel and hitting it with a coconut. The jeering remarks made by Tapsee were condemned by one and all and she faced the ire of netizens in social media.

Yesterday, she posted a video apologizing Raghavendra Rao for her remarks. She said that her remarks are not intended to ridicule the director but to make fun of herself. She revealed that it took some time for her to realize what actually had happened and how Telugu audience took her comments. The Jhummandi Nadham actress concluded saying that she had a lot of respect for Raghavendra Rao and could never forget him for introducing her to the silver screen.

Tapsee is gearing up for her upcoming Telugu release Anando Brahma which is slated to hit the screens this August.

Tapsee’s comments on Telugu filmmaker draw flak

Delhi girl Tapsee Pannu made her acting debut down South in Raghavendra Rao’s Jhummandi Nadham. She then went on to do several films in South and also made her presence felt in Bollywood with some notable films to her credit. Unfortunately, she made some condescending remarks about her first film.

During a recent chit chat, Tapsee made fun of director Raghavendra Rao’s idea of exposing heroine’s navel and hitting the mid riff with fruits. Tapsee said it was a ludicrous thought to hit her mid riff with a coconut and wondered what so sensual about it.

Tapsee also belittled South audience saying that they thought she could only pull off glamorous roles untill she acted in Pink and Naam Shabhana.

These disgusting comments made by Tapsee are drawing huge criticism from audience and Telugu film industry. It remains to be seen how Raghavendra Rao responds on this issue.
