SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali is a sensation in Indian cinema and digital giant Netflix announced a web series which is a prequel for Baahubali: The Beginning. Titled ‘The Rise of Sivagami’, the web series is based on Anand Neelakantan’s book. Young and talented directors Praveen Sattaru and Deva Katta have been locked to direct the web series which will be made on a massive budget. Marathi girl and television turned movie actress Mrunal Thakur has been finalized to play the title role.

The directors felt that Mrunal will be the best choice to essay the powerful Sivagami’s role in the web series. Mrunal was quite happy for the offer and gave her nod. Special sets are being erected in Ramoji Film City for the shoot of The Rise of Sivagami. Netflix is in plans to release The Rise of Sivagami in 90 foreign languages and they are investing a bomb on the web series. Atul Kulkarni and Rahul Bose have been finalized to play other pivotal roles in The Rise of Sivagami.
