Actress Simran thanks TN CM Stalin for naming road after late comedian Vivek

Simran, who was one of the top heroines in the Tamil film industry a few years ago, has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for accepting a request by the film industry and renaming a road after one of Tamil cinema’s finest comedians, late actor Vivek.

Recently, members from the Tamil Nadu film fraternity had made a request to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, urging him to rename the road leading to the residence of the great actor after him.

Accepting the request, the Tamil Nadu government has chosen to rename the road as Chinna Kalaivanar Vivek Road.

Posting a picture of this new name board put up by the Greater Chennai Corporation, actress Simran tweeted, “It’s a fitting tribute to Late Shri. Vivek sir. Thank you M K Stalin sir. An actor par excellence, an environmentalist, a great human being and a caring friend. Though short, he left us great memories and responsibilities to fulfill.”

Vivek, apart from being a brilliant comedian, was also known to be a big environmentalist and a follower of late president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. On Kalam’s advice, he embarked on a mission to plant one crore saplings to fight global warming.

The actor went out of his way to promote planting of trees. By the time he passed away last year, he had managed to plant 33.23 lakh tree saplings.

Rajinikanth recalls his experience working with Vivek

Veteran actor and comedian Vivek passed away during the early hours of today. The actor suffered a massive heart attack and was hospitalized yesterday. The entire film industry paid their tributes for the actor. Some of the actors visited the mortal remains at his residence today. Superstar Rajinikanth recalled his working experience with Vivek. He penned an emotional note saying that he was left shattered with the demise of his friend. Rajinikanth reminded about the days he shot with Vivek for the film Sivaji. He called it an unforgettable experience.

Rajjinikanth conveyed his condolences to the family members of Vivek. The last rites of Vivek will take place this evening with police honors as per the instructions issued by the government of Tamil Nadu. Vivek is survived by his wife and two daughters. Tamil film industry is shattered with the demise of Vivek, a talented actor and a humanitarian.

Veteran Tamil actor Vivek is no more

The Tamil film industry woke up with a sad news on Saturday. Veteran comedian Vivek who suffered a massive cardiac arrest yesterday passed away during the early hours of today. The 59-year-old actor who worked in more than 220 films in his career passed away at 4:35 AM. His Left Anterior Descending Artery was completely blocked after which Vivek suffered a heart attack. Vivek took coronavirus vaccine on Thursday. Veteran director K Balachander introduced Vivek to Tamil cinema in 1980s. Vivek acted with all the top and young actors of Tamil cinema in his career.

Vivek underwent an angioplasty and stent procedure on Friday and he was kept on ECMO support in ICU. The initial tests reported that Vivek is tested negative for coronavirus. His complete name was Vivekanandan and he is born in Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu. Tamil film fraternity is left in deep shock with the sudden demise of one of the most talented actors. Condolences poured in from all the corners. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Rest in peace Vivek.

Non-bailable warrant on Eight Tamil actors including Suriya

An Ooty court today issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against eight Tamil actors for not appearing before the court regarding the defamation case filed by a senior journalist in 2009. Ooty Judicial Magistrate Senthilkumar Rajavel issued the warrant against Suriya, Sathyaraj, Cheran, Vijayakumar, Sarathkumar, Arun Vijay, Vivek and Sripriya as they failed to appear before the court for the second time consecutively. It was in 2009, a leading Tamil daily published a news that an actress raised charges of prostitution on the above list of actors.

After the news turned controversial, the newspaper published an apology. However the actors seemed not to calm down and organized a public protest abusing the senior journalist Rozario Mariya Susai after which Rozario filed a complaint in Ooty. After two attempts, the Ooty court issued a non-bailable warrant on Suriya, Sathyaraj, Cheran, Vijayakumar, Sarathkumar, Arun Vijay, Vivek and Sripriya as they failed to appear before the court. The next hearing will take place on June 17th.
