TANA Controversy — How Greatandhra resorts to slander without an iota of proof

0

Former Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy always used to lament that current media resorts to “Mukhana massi gudda vesaam. Thudusukondi ” (We cast aspersions. It is your responsibility to clean it). This is exactly the modus operandi of Greatandhra. The website just keeps spitting venom on some political parties, leaders and some organizations.

Now, it is the turn of TANA. Like any organization, TANA has it’s share of issues. Telugu360 has reported these issues in extensive detail. All said and done, TANA is the only NRI association that is well managed and most active association. As recently as yesterday, when Telugu students died in a car crash, TANA TEAMSQUARE members spent days in coordinating hospital authorities, funeral homes and Indian embassy officials to send bodies back to India.

However, Greatandhra casts baseless allegations on TANA for obvious reasons. All the articles are full of gaffe’s, but we are presenting few points to our readers to expose the hollowness of those articles.

1) As per the website —>

whenever most of the NRI organization office-bearers visit India, the expenses for their first-class air tickets, luxury hotels etc are paid for from organization funds.

This is absolutely false. All the office bearers including president of TANA travel with their personal money and don’t even spend the money for tea from TANA accounts.

2) Again from the article:

Jayaram has drawn Rs. 1 crore from TANA funds.

2 Crore that TANA has collected is still safely in the TANA bank account. Jayaram as an individual can’t draw this amount. These foreign remittances are governed by strict rules and these  can’t be withdrawn by an individual at will as the said website has reported.

3) Money laundering allegations:

This is most horrific and suggests that the article was written without any research. All the donations to TANA are very strictly regulated by IRS as it is a 501 (c) Non profit organization. An individual can’t transfer money to TANA and get the money in India back.

As a media portal, they didn’t have the basic courtesy to send an email to cross check the information before casting allegations of this magnitude. Of course, no one expects well researched articles from this portal, but might be better to limit these to movie gossips.
