Telugu Desam Politburo, which is meeting on Tuesday, is expected to discuss Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy’s recent campaign in New Delhi against chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged corruption in the name of ‘Save Democracy”.

Jagan’s campaign has terribly upset the party for two reasons : 1. Jagan is talking corruption in higher place of government and it is expected to damage the image of Brand Andhra Pradesh and 2, the undue importance given to Jagan by the BJP ministers in New Delhi.

The party wants to find out if there is anything more than just a courtesy shown to the opposition leader of a state in the union ministers’ appointments.

Many in the party suspect that BJP is trying to send across a message to TDP that the saffron party is not too much worried about Chandrababu Naidu’s tactics to malign the central government by stating that centre was not releasing enough funds to Andhra Pradesh.

They suspect that BJP wants convey to TDP that they are not without friends in Andhra Pradesh if TDP wants to sever its links with NDA.

Deputy chief minister K E Krishna Murthy and Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu strongly resented the appointments given to Jagan by union home minister Rajnath Singh and Finance minister Aurn Jaitley.
Their argument is that Jagan is an economic offender and he should not have been entertained by the ministers, who are concerned with such crimes.

The TDP politburo wants to take a view on the issue in the context of recent ill will generated between the two NDA partners in Andhra Pradesh.

Similarly, TDP is also peeved at the periodic reiteration by union ministers on special status , which is emboldening the opposition parties to attack Naidu on the subject.

Naidu is expected to dash off a letter to Prime Minister on special status issue soon. This is the fall out of the provocative statement given by minister of state for home Parthibhai Haribhai Chowdary in Rajya Sabha on Friday that AP doesn’t need special status.

The statement revived the demand of the special status in Andhra Pradesh and opposition parties have upped the ante against Naidu’s lackadaisical attitude towards the demand for special status.

According home minister Nimmkayala Chinna Rajappa, Naidu will request the PM to fulfill all pending promises made to residuary AP including announcement of special financial package and other incentives, in his letter which will be dashed off to Modi after cabinet meeting tomorrow or politburo meeting on Tuesday.

The TDP leadership has decided to hold the emergency meeting of its politburo on May 3 at Vijayawada. The party will also finalize the venue for its next Mahanadu, its annual conclave, during the meeting. Tirupati and Amaravati are being considered as a venue.

The issue the Politburo expected to discuss are:
1. Special status to Andhra Pradesh
2. Implementation of all provisions of AP Reorganization Act 2014
3. Special packages to backward areas
4. Jagan’s appointments with cental minister such as Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley
5. Stand on Palamuru-Ranga Reddy and Dindi project of Telangana
6. Venue for next Mahanadu
