The Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams is an independent body. Its governing body is supreme and all matters will be decided by it, said Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal. His comments are made amid reports of Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam trying to interfere in the affairs of the TTD. The recent transportation of gold by the Punjab National Bank has become the subject matter of debate. CS Subrahmanyam has tried to pass instructions in this regard but the TTD governing body has come into the picture as it has the final powers on all matters.
The same has been confirmed by Singhal who says that the governing body also has powers to deal with everybody who is damaging the reputation of the TTD. Singhal recalled how rumours are being spread though the TTD has no responsibility at all with the transportation of gold lying with the PNB. The opposition YCP leaders are levelling allegations of malpractices in the deposit of TTD gold. The issue was blown out of proportions and the TTD is all set to take a final view on how to proceed against those indulging in a misinformation campaign.
