Megastar Chiranjeevi’s patriotic war spectacle SyeRaa Narasimha Reddy had a decent Wednesday in North America. After pulling in $ 858K haul from Tuesday premiers, which is termed as an underwhelming start from trade perspective, the period drama hold well on the first day with $ 282K combined gross from USA and Canada. The film’s total gross in North America now stands at $ 1.14 Million by the end of first day. Trade circles are expecting a solid weekend due to the positive reviews and word of mouth.
Telugu films are going through a dull phase in overseas market. Recent biggie Saaho also failed to score big in openings. SyeRaa too started off slowly due to various reasons and the weekend performance will be crucial to decide the box office range of the film in overseas. Directed by Surender Reddy, the film received rave reviews for its lavish visuals, strong emotional point and Chiranjeevi’s stellar performance. The domestic openings are stunning in all territories of Telugu states. The Hindi version failed to reach trade expectations due to heavy competition from Hrithik Roshan’s WAR.
