Tamil hero Vishal is making all indications about his readiness to contest in by-election to Thirupparankundram assembly segment which fell vacant on account of death of sitting MLA AK Bose in August last. Following this, his fan clubs are in a celebratory mood all over the state and expressed their full support to the actor’s decision.

It is nothing new in TN politics as film personalities occupy and dominate the political space just as they do in cinema world. Already, Rajanikanth and Kamal Haasan have entered the electoral politics.

In 2017 by-election to the high profile RK Nagar segment itself, Vishal filed his nomination which was eventually cancelled due to non-fulfilment of required documents. RK Nagar by-election was held on account of death of Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha.

Now, Vishal has converted his fan club Makkal Nala Iyakkam into a political party so as to enable him contest in by-election. He seems to be preparing for a full scale entry in 2019 general election. He has been running social service activities under his mother Devi’s name.

Vishal is always known for his boldness whether in making films under the banner of his Vishal Film Factory or opposing rivals in film industry. He fought against rivals in Tamil Film Producers’ Council and later became its President. His bitter rivalry with veteran actor Sarath Kumar has attracted widespread attention in South Indian film and political circles.

Vishal’s immediate goals are stated to be eradication of poverty in rural areas by educating and empowering every household in the villages. He is a firm believer in upliftment of weaker sections as it is vital for achieving future developmental goals.
