Amid the confusion and excitement at the 89th academy awards, let’s not forget Moonlight won the best picture award. Apart from remembering Warren Beatty as the guy who read out the wrong name, let’s remember Oscars for some great things this year.

As Trump orders ban on Muslims and the nation, the event witnessed, a first Muslim ever to win an Oscar – Mahershala Ali in the best supporting actor trophy for his role as Juan in Barry Jenkins’ “Moonlight.”

Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s “The Salesman” won Award for best foreign language film. However, Farhadi boycotted the ceremony to protest Trump’s controversial executive order.

Actor Om Puri, who passed away in January, got a musical tribute by Grammy.

At 32, Damien Chazelle is the youngest ever winner of director Oscar for ‘La La Land’.

This is the first time Australia has had two nominees for best picture – Hacksaw Ridge and Lion.

The mix up did not start at the last segment. Even in the memorium, the Academy used a picture of (not deceased) producer Jan Chapman instead of an image of Janet Patterson.
