AP Assembly budget session from Feb 1

The Budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly is likely to be commences from February 1. Though it was earlier decided to have winter session in the month of January for couple of days, before starting Budget session, the proposal was dropped with the intention of the Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao that the next assembly session should be held in Amaravati capital region, but not in Hyderabad.

As the new building works of the Assembly are getting final touches near interim secretariat at Velagapudi, officials are now expecting that it would be ready by this month end.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is likely to take a decision on the date of the budget session at the cabinet meeting to be held in two days. According to official sources furnished works were almost completed. This week, the focus would be on security check, besides mandatory drills, prior to the starting of the session in the new building.

Meanwhile, the finance department officials are seen busy with pre-budget consultations and printing of relevant papers. The financial scenario said to be causing concern. According to initial estimates, the revenue deficit is likely to shoot up to Rs 14,000 crore as against estimated Rs 4,000 crore. Likewise, the fiscal deficit too is expected to be the tune of Rs 25,000 crore as against estimated Rs 20,000 crore.
