AP MLC M.V.V.S Murthi , three others die in car accident on Alaska highway

Four people, including Andhra Pradesh MLC, Ex-MP MVVS Murthi , were killed in a road accident on the park highway ( Alaska , USA) on Monday evening 3PM local time, reports said.

Mr. Murthi and his four friends, a total of five members, were travelling in a Dodge Minivan and collided with an oncoming truck. Alaska State Troopers say the fatal accident happened when the driver of the 2017 Dodge Minivan (in which Dr. Murthi and friends were travelling in) was passing a commercial motor vehicle in a no passing zone. The minivan then crashed into the oncoming Ford F-150 pickup truck. Two people were dead on the spot, two others were taken to a hospital by helicopter to Anchorage city in critical condition. Later the two critically injured two were also died. Fifth person is Venkata R Kadiyala is still in critical condition as per Anchorage police.

Dr. Mathukumilli Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Murthi, popularly known as M.V.V.S.Murthi was born in an agricultural family in Konaseema area , East Godavari District Andhra Pradesh on 3rd July, 1938 . Dr. M.V.V.S.Murthi is a multifaceted personality – an industrialist, educationist and politician. He is present MLC of Andhra Pradesh legislative, ex- MP of Visakha Loksabha. He was Member of 10th & 13th LokSabha from Visakhapatnam constituency in 1991 & 1999 respectively. He is founder president of prestigious GITAM Varsity Vizag. He is also popularly known as Goldspot Murthi to locals. His business empire consist of Ferro Alloys, Power, Hospitality and Educational Institutions for the last 4 decades. Dr.Murthy’s grandson Bharath is married to NBK’s younger daughter Tejaswini.

  1. A very tragic death. I knew him very well. He was responsible for my joining GITAM University, I being the first Ph.D and the youngest Professor at GITAM. A very forward looking person deeply committed to education. He treated me with utmost respect. He valued education. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

    Basvapunnaiah also known to me quite well. He was a Journalist and very close to Mr. MVVS. Very unfortunate and tragic.
