A criminal case has been registered against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) senior leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy after a serious complaint was lodged by Khammambati Sirisha, who also serves as the Director of the State Scheduled Caste Corporation. The complaint alleges that Sajjala made derogatory remarks against the women of the capital region, reportedly referring to them as “Sankara Jati”, a term that is widely viewed as casteist and offensive.
Following this, police at the Tadepalli police station in Guntur district booked a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 79 and 352. Section 79 deals with actions by individuals who believe they are acting lawfully in official duty, while Section 352 relates to assault or criminal force not amounting to grievous hurt.
Meanwhile, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy approached the court seeking protection from arrest in this case. However, the court dismissed his petition, clearing the way for the police to proceed with legal action. Following this decision, multiple IPC sections, including Sections 79 and 352, were applied against him.
