Hyderabad House is one of five cleanest buildings in New Delhi

Hyderabad House, the palace of Nizam of Hyderabad, New Delhi has emerged one of the top five best buildings in the national capital. In a survey conducted on the upkeep and cleanliness of the buildings under the control of government, along with Rashtrapati Bhavan, Vigyan Bhavan, UPSC building and Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan, the Hyderabad House adjudged as top five cleanest government buildings.

Hyderabad House, located at 1, Ashok Road, New Delhi, was the residence of Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad.

The cleanliness assessment and rating has been undertaken by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and these five buildings stood out as cleanest government premises in all aspects of the survey. The dirtiest building are AGCR, Nirvachan Sadan of election of commission of India. While the performance of AGCR remained same as last year, the status of Nirvachan Sadan dipped further. The building which have not changed their cleanliness include IP Bhavan and Transport Bhavan.

The Hyderabad was designed by eminent British architect Sir Ediwn Lutyens who designed it as part of design of New Delhi, which is popular as Lutyens Delhi. After annexation of Nizam into Indian union in 1949, Hyderabad state transferred it to the Government of India and It has been playing host to heads of foreign states and government and other important foreign dignitaries ever since.

The butterfly shaped edifice is most impressive palaces built in New Delhi for the Royal members of chamber of princes set up by British India government. Located just North of famous India Gate, the building known for its nice blend of European architectural features with Moghul motifs. The building is maintained by tourism development corporation of India, while external affairs ministry is its owner. The exquisite structure stood witness to the visits of most influential world leaders such as Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Vladimir Putin, Gordon Brown etc. The New Delhi’s second iconic building after Rashtrapti Bhavan has earned the ISO-22000 certification for its immaculate upkeep and service standards last some time back.
