Close on the heels of the notification for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections could be out anytime, Telangana IT Minister KTR has made another step forward to woo the people from Andhra Pradesh settled in Hyderabad. This time, he accused the opposition party’s not able to digest on seeing people from Seemandhra settled in Hyderabad are increasingly favoring the TRS party.

Hyderabad: Given the task of leading the TRS party campaign Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao’s son and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao is making every possible effort to endear the people from Andhra Pradesh settled in Hyderabad. Considering the votes of those from Seemandhra living in Hyderabad are crucial for winning of TRS candidates in several segments, KTR on Tuesday made a step forward claiming that “people in Seemandhra settled in Hyderabad are on TRS side.” Not enough, he accused the opposition TDP, BJP and Congress party’s not able to digest the reality on seeing that the Seemandhra settlers in Hyderabad are increasingly favoring his party.
Trying to strike a chord with the Seemandhra voters he said that we had criticized them sometimes during the separate movement for Telangana state. Now, as the objective of formation of separate state of Telangana realized, we will not discriminate them, he added.
He said that people from different parts of the country have come and living in Hyderabad. And, his party and the government will treat all of them equally as they too are children of Telangana. Underlining that his party had stressed during its fight for the separate state, that though geographically divided people belonging to the Telugu language should live in unity. And we are committed to that even today, KTR said. Adding further, “keeping in view of our objective for separate Telangana, some of our remarks on Andhra people might have caused hurt feeling in them. We achieved our objective and we will not discriminate them,” he said.
Further, he accused the opposition party’s finding fault when the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chief Ministers N Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhara Rao were of late meeting frequently and maintaining cordial relations with each other. Earlier, “both chief ministers had engaged in a war of words. How could they now be cordial with each others was what the opposition party’s are asking. It seems the opposition party’s wanted chief ministers of both the Telugu speaking state should be at logger-heads with each other and as if they should not maintain cordial relations,” KTR said. While this is so, KCR’s daughter and MP K Kavitha going ballistic with her scathing remarks against the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for discriminating Telangana for being a non-BJP state. She accused the union government not extended financial assistance that is due to the state, and also not fulfilling the promises made as part of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Reacting to this, Union Minister of State for Labour B Dattatreya who has been maintaining cordial relations with KCR has come down heavily on the TRS MP, not to make unintelligent remarks against the Centre for political gains, and denied that the Centre is discriminating Telangana for being a non-BJP state.
Given this position, KCR son is engaged in a sweet talk to woo the segments which would bring electoral dividends to the party in the ensuing GHMC elections. On the other, the chief minister’s daughter is mounting a bitter attack against the opposition parties. Both the son and daughter, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali were assigned the campaign for GHMC elections from the front.
