Raj Kandukuri’s next with Vijay, Ritu post Nayaki

Producer, director, distributor Raj talks to Telugu360.com about his ongoing film Nayaki and the next one with Tarun Bhaskar. After Gautam Buddha he says he did not make the right attempts, he failed commercially, his projects were not financially viable due to inexperience. Post Gautam Buddha, he made My Heart Is Beating Adhola and Gola Seenu were not completely satisfactory. He says, “For Aravind 2, I was a co-producer and did distribution with Hridaya Kaleyam and it fetched me money and did a joint venture with Madhura Sridhar. I am trying to match quality cinema with commercial success. Now my latest is Nayaki with Giri, Trisha’s manager and producer of the film. I am co-producing it. It is a revenge drama, the point is fresh. It had 1980 flavour, about a woman who was victimised and she takes the revenge in 2015. Trisha liked the story immediately and Tweeted she is doing it. The poster drew interesting response, she sports a microphone and a chopping knife, the styling and costumes is of 80s. Govardhan Reddy did I love You Bangaram, a Maruti cinema; it did not do well but we liked the narration. Other than Anushka and Nayantara, Trisha is the only leading heroine and we need to get the revenue from Tamil market as well. So we are shooting almost in both Tamil and Telugu and took artistes that are common in Tamil and Telugu. This is a revenge drama of a heroine in 1980s. The Tamil shoot is for another twenty days.”

Raghu Kunche is giving fresh music and is making Trisha croon too in both the languages. My next project is by Tarun Bhaskar, the director who made Synma. I was impressed by his script, Vijay Devarakonda is the main lead and Ritu Verma is the heroine, she has also signed a big film with Eros. I was laughing throughout the narration and immediately contacted Suresh Babu. He was supposed to do it but due to work load he left it, he said it was a very good plot and I should go ahead. I have now become confident and able to judge cinema…want to do good films with good content and controlled budget. “
