Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy held Praja Darbar at his official residence Jyothirao Pule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet of Hyderabad on Friday. He started meeting people at 10 am in the morning as announced yesterday after his swearing-in ceremony.

The officials have renamed the Pragati Bhavan as Jyothirao Pule Praja Bhavan as desired by Revanth Reddy. He also directed the officials to remove barricades in the area and keep the building open for the people to visit him.

Former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who built the Pragati Bhavan had restricted the entry of the people to the area for the past nine years. However, with his defeat and victory of the Congress, the new chief minister had opened the gates of the building and made it a people-friendly building.

Revanth Reddy is yet to move to the building officially. He is currently operating from his own house as the officials are making some changes to the building that suit the requirements of the new chief minister.

People are welcoming the holding of Praja Darbar by the new chief minister. They recall how late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy used to hold the darbar and meet the people. Dr Reddy used to receive representations from the people on various issues and direct the officials to resolve them.

After almost 12 years, the residence of the chief minister is opened to the people to come and meet the chief minister. People are celebrating the change and have welcomed the decision of Revanth Reddy to meet them every Friday morning.
