RTC Strike – Here are some facts

Here are some facts about Telangana RTC Strike:

• Most of losses come from GHMC area. KCR govt promised to reimburse,which didn’t happen.
• Govt charges only 1% tax on Airplane fuel. RTC pays 27%.
• Govt giving subsidies to the tune of 600 cr per year.
• No control on private buses. Those cause ~ 1000 crores loss per year.
• RTC operates lot of loss making routes as a public service – otherwise lot of rural areas will be completely cut out.
• Almost all private buses run as stage carriers. No action.
• Our opinion is Privatization (even partially) is not a good option.
• Think schools, hospitals. Price gouging and Monopoly on certain routes.
• All profitable routes will be taken by private operators, leaving loss making to RTC.

Irony – TRS as a party is built on people movement and unions. It is now ironic that KCR government is adding a pre condition that all the new employees shouldn’t join unions.
• At one point, Harish Rao was President of these unions.

It is sad to see most of media playing govt tune. Of major media houses, only Eenadu has given view point of workers.
• Pathetic that so called top news channels just parroting Govt press notes instead of presenting the socio economic havoc this could cause
