US box office : KGF is OK, Anthariksham and PPLM fall flat

None of the three films that released this week showed signs of having a promising run at the US box office in the first weekend. After a moderate start on Thursday premiers, all three films had a relatively dull Friday in overseas.

While Kannada period film KGF is just OK on Friday, Telugu films Anthariksham and PPLM have fallen flat. KGF collected close to $ 55K from 59 locations on Friday and took the total past $ 110K. Anthariksham collected a meagre $ 58K from 95 locations and the total is close to $ 150K. Sharwanand’s Padi Padi Leche Manasu is having a disappointing run with poor numbers. After collecting $ 70K on premiers, the film collected $ 40K on Friday.

Both Anthariksham and Padi Padi Leche Manasu should gross more than $ 800K to be in safe zone. Going by their current run, it seems like both films are likely to end as huge loss ventures in overseas.

‘Mass Amma Mass’ : Anthariksham team’s dig at mass reviewers

Films laced with mass elements appeal well to Telugu audience and click easily at box office. Team Anthariksham has come up with a unique promotional strategy ahead of the film’s release. Varun is seen interviewed by a representative of Indian Mass Council for giving mass certification to Anthariksham. The interviewer questions about elevation, mass elements, star power, item song and gravity defying fights etc. Varun Tej comes up with fitting replies based on his experiences while shooting for this space thriller.

This interesting and amusing promotional video is now going viral all over social media. Directed by Sankalp Reddy, the film is slated for release this 21st worldwide.

Ghazi director Sankalp Reddy is coming up with yet another spunky attempt by bringing the first of its kind space thriller for Telugu audience this December 21st. Titled as Anthariksham, the film has Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripati and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles.

Sankalp Reddy revealed that the idea of making Anthariksham came to his mind after going through a newspaper article about space. Refusing to give the details of the article, Sankalp clarified that the story of Anthariksham is original and has no influence of Hollywood space thrillers. Made on a solid budget, Anthariksham was shot in extreme conditions like zero gravity.

Varun Tej plays an astronaut who is on a mission to save the country from a catastrophe. The teasers and trailers packed with stunning visuals received a thumping response from audience. The technical values are going to be top notch.

A sequel for Anthariksham 9000kmph

Anthariksham 9000kmph has been making huge noise right after the theatrical trailer has been out. This space thriller has been carrying high expectations and on top technical standards. Sankalp Reddy is the director and Varun Tej, Aditi Rao Hydari, Lavanya Tripathi played the lead roles. The latest update says that Sankalp Reddy is in plans to direct a sequel for Anthariksham 9000kmph.

The second installment of the film will start soon and will be bankrolled on First Frame Entertainments. More details are yet to be finalized and an official announcement will be made soon.

Anthariksham lagging in promotions

Mega hero Varun Tej is coming up with a first of its kind space thriller in Tollywood titled as ‘Anthariksham 9000Kmph’. The shooting formalities have been wrapped up and the film is slated for release this 21st. Surprisingly, the makers of this interesting film are not yet taking promotions seriously.

With only two weeks left for its release, there is hardly any buzz on the film in audience due to poor promotions. The first teaser which was released a few weeks ago received a good response for its stunning visuals. But, the team is not coming up with adequate promotional content to prepare the audience before its release.

A film of different genre and new concept needs to be promoted well to create hype before its release. Also, there are a couple of others films releasing during the same week. So, Anthariksham needs a solid promotional strategy to grab the attention of moviegoers.

Directed by Sankalp Reddy, the film is presented by filmmaker Krish.

Apt title for Varun Tej’s space thriller

That Varun Tej is shooting for the first space thriller of Tollywood is a known news. Sankalp Reddy of Ghazi fame is calling shots for this interesting film which features Aditi Rao Hydari and Lavanya Tripathi as female leads.

Reportedly, the makers are looking for an apt title for this space thriller. Anthariksham is the tentative title which has been registered by producer Rajeev Reddy. However, they are also looking for few other apt titles that suit the genre of the film. An official confirmation will be out soon.

Varun Tej is playing an astronaut and he underwent intensive training under zero gravity conditions. The current schedule is happening in a special set erected under the supervision of Rangasthalam art directors Ramakrishna and Monika.
