Chandramukhi 2 Movie Review

Telugu360 Rating: 2/5

Chandramukhi is a super hit film and the sound of Laka Laka Laka by Rajinikanth and Jyotika’s performance will be remembered forever. Almost after two decades, the sequel for the film is out. Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut played the lead roles in Chandramukhi 2 that is directed by P Vasu. Here is the review of Chandramukhi 2:

Story:

The family of Ranganayaki (Radhika Sarathkumar) is haunted by problems and accidents. Guruji (Rao Ramesh) asks their family to perform special poojas in the Durgamma temple in Vetayyapalem. The entire family along with Madhan (Raghava Lawrence) reaches the village for prayers. Madhan turns a caretaker for two kids who are the grandchildren of Ranganayaki. They rent out the Chandramukhi house before coming to the village. Basavvayya (Vadivelu) who knows the hidden facts about the Chandramukhi Palace decides to sell off the house to the family of Ranganayaki.

Chandramukhi turns active after the family enters the palace. The target of Chandramukhi is Vetayya Raju (Lawrence who is seen in the getup of the King). The rest of the film is all about why Chandramukhi comes back and the backstory related to the king.

Analysis:

Rajinikanth was the apt one for the lead role in Chandramukhi and there would be no replacement for him. Lawrence did not fit well in the role. P Vasu tried hard to generate interest by casting Kangana Ranaut for the role of Chandramukhi. The sequel offers nothing new and it follows the same template of Chandramukhi. Chandramukhi 2 is no match to the prequel.

The action episode of Lawrence saving the kids is quite funny. The songs are quite disappointing. The interval epsiode sounds interesting. The past is quite lengthy and boring in Chandramukhi 2. Raghava Lawrence did not suit well as the King because of which the flashback episode falls flat. The second half is completely shot on the same template of Chandramukhi including the climax episodes.

Performances:

Raghava Lawrence has done horror films that are laced with entertainment. He succeeded well in those films. But in Chandramukhi 2, he was not apt and could not live up to the expectations. Though Kangana played the role of Chandramukhi, the audience will remember Jyotika. Kangana was decent in the role. She was trained well for the role. Lakshmi Menon was ok in the other important role. Radhika and Vadivelu were good.

Chandramukhi 2 fails badly when it comes to technical aspects. The lighting is quite poor and the cinematography work should have been better. The background score is one more disappointment. The production values too are not grand and the VFX work is poor. P Vasu who was successful in directing Chandramukhi failed now badly with the sequel. Chandramukhi 2 will end up as a huge disappointment.

Chandramukhi 2 Pushed: Many New Postponements

0

After the postonement of Prabhas’ Salaar, several films were announced to take the advantage of five-day holiday weekend. MAD, Pedha Kapu and Rules Ranjan are the first to confirm their dates for the September 28th weekend. Soon, Ram and Boyapati’s Skanda too moved on to the date to avoid clash with Chandramukhi 2. With the delay in the post-production work, Chandramukhi 2 is now gearing up for the long weekend release.

This would leave the weekend in a mad rush. There are reports that MAD and Rules Ranjan will release on October 6th to avoid the rush and clash. Fukrey 3 and The Vaccine War are the other Hindi films releasing on September 28th. With so many delays, Vishal’s Mark Antony is the only film that will release during the Vinayaka Chavithi weekend and there would be no Telugu film releasing during the holiday season.

Chandramukhi 2 Trailer is Out

0

Seventeen years after the release of Chandramukhi, the sequel for the original is getting ready. Raghava Lawrence stepped into the shoes of Rajinikanth and Kangana Ranaut replaced Jyotika. P Vasu who directed the first part directed Chandramukhi 2 and the trailer of the film is launched in a grand manner today. The trailer hints that the film follows the same theme of Chandramukhi and has no new excitement loading. Chandramukhi 2 is a proper template film of Chandramukhi. The visuals are fantastic and the makers spent lavishly on the film.

Lawrence plays a dual role in Chandramukhi 2. What’s the connection between these roles forms the story of Chandramukhi 2. Kangana Ranaut has a challenging role and we have to wait to see how well the actress was fit in the assignment. Radhika, Rao Ramesh, Vadivelu, Lakshmi Menon, and Srushti Dange played other prominent roles in Chandramukhi 2. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film is heading for release on September 15th in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages.

Chandramukhi-2: Can Lawrence mesmerize audiences to the same extent as Rajni?

1

South Indian movie lovers and fans of Chandramukhi movie are abuzz with news of the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi. The sequel features choreographer turned actor Raghava Lawrence in the lead role alongside the versatile Kangana Ranaut. Directed by the veteran director P Vasu, the film’s first look of Lawrence has already generated excitement among fans. However, with Rajinikanth’s unforgettable portrayal in the original, the question arises: Can Lawrence mesmerize audiences to the same extent?

Chandramukhi, a captivating horror thriller and a remake of the 1994 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, earned immense success under Vasu’s direction. Subsequent ventures by the same director like Nagavalli failed to replicate the magic of the original. Now, with a fresh storyline and Lawrence as the King Vettaiyan, expectations are high. While Lawrence has proved his mettle in the horror genre with movies like Kanchana and its sequels, his characterization in those movies is mostly like a coward who is scared of ghosts. it is totally different from Rajinikanth’s royal presence in Chandramukhi movie. The comparison between these two actors belonging to two different leagues is not correct but the comparisons are inevitable. Director Vasu assures that Lawrence’s role has been carefully tailored to match his body language and the audiences will forget comparing his role with that of Rajni within a few minutes after they are into the movie.

Amidst the pan-India scale production and the musical brilliance of Keeravani, Lawrence is confident in carrying the weight of reprising Rajinikanth’s role. The critics and audiences eagerly await to witness if Lawrence can cast the same spell that Rajinikanth had brilliantly woven in Chandramukhi.
