Even before the film, which happens to Mahesh’s 25th, went to sets, it was mired in controversies with producer PVP approaching Madras High Court, claiming that his production house spent Rs. 4 crores on his proposed project with Mahesh and director Vamshi Paidipally before it went into the hands of Raju and Aswini Dutt. Out of court settlement followed early last month, with Raju and Dutt agreeing to take in PVP as one of the producers.

Asked how much Dutt and PVP are involved in the project, Raju, breaking into a smile, declared, “SVC is executing the project. No tensions on floor for me.”

He added, “The next schedule will commence in Hyderabad, followed by schedules in Goa and in Hyderabad again. We will move to US in September.”

The Tollywood heavy hitter also clarified that there isn’t a change in director for Galla Ashok’s debut film, saying that Krishna Reddy (of ‘Aadu Magadra Bujji’ fame) is still in consideration with his adaptation of hit Turkish romantic drama ‘Love Likes Coincidences’. “There’s a script by another young director (Sashi) we are looking at too. The long-in-the-development project, a joint venture between Aswini Dutt and Dil Raju, will roll in Dehradun on June 12, with an extensive schedule later in the US.

The latest piece of information coming about the project, which has been tightly guarded, is that Raju is targeting it for Sankranti next year. “Yes, Raju wants the film to make it to Sankranti. Although Vamshi is known to take his own sweet time to wrap up a project, this time he assured Raju that he’d meet the deadline come what may.”

He hopes to repeat the sentiment again. As a matter of fact, Mahesh is also keen on the festive date as he told Mythri Movie Makers that he’d be available for Sukumar’s film from December.”

The source further adds, “As far as legal issues that the film is going through, Raju is certain that everything will be sorted out.

The film, a romantic comedy interspersed with family emotions, will be shot by leading Bollywood cinematographer Mohanan. Pooja Hegde is cast opposite Mahesh, while Allari Naresh will be seen in a supporting role.

Two directors biding time in Dil Raju’s office

0

Young directors Harish Shankar and Anil Ravipudi are waiting patiently to kick start their next projects. Coincidentally, both directors are planning to work on multi-starrer films up next and Dil Raju is going to pool money bags for them. While Harish Shankar is supposed to team up with Nithiin and Sharwanand, Anil Ravipudi is likely team up with Venkatesh and Varun Tej.

Both directors have readied scripts for their respective projects, but they are waiting for approval from Dil Raju. They are regularly visiting Dil Raju’s office and biding their time to get the final nod from him to kickstart the pre production activities.

Dil Raju, who suffered huge losses with Agnyathaavaasi in Nizam, has turned little cautious about his upcoming films. He has lined up a slew of projects in 2018, among which are these two multi-starrers.

As of now, Dil Raju is concentrating on Mahesh Babu’s 25th film. He felt that there is no hurry in making back to back films. So, he is taking his own time to approve Harish Shankar and Anil Ravipudi’s projects.

If everything goes as per plans, these projects might start rolling towards the end of Summer.

UV Creations: The only Saviour for Dil Raju

Tollywood’s top filmmaker Dil Raju managed to release six films from his prestigious Sri Venkateswara Creations and most of them ended up as huge money spinners at the ticket window. However he is sure an unlucky man as he distributed several disasters last year for Nizam and Vizag region. Right from Mahesh’s Spyder to Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavaasi, the ace producer lost huge on distribution. UV Creations happened to be the only saviour for Raju.

Sharwanand’s Mahanubhavudu released during Dasara and it raked huge money across the Telugu states. Anushka’s recent outing Bhaagamathie is a massive hit and Raju distributed both the films for Nizam. Raju even distributed films like Jawaan across Telugu states which ended up as debacles. On the whole, UV Creations who have been racing to the top in Tollywood turned out to be the saviour for Raju in distribution in the recent times.

Raju recently acquired the theatrical rights of Varuntej’s Tholi Prema and Nani’s Krishnarjuna Yuddham. Along with these he has over six films which will roll on his banner SVC.

The producers along with Trivikram met Pawan Kalyan and revealed about their plans. Pawan Kalyan is yet to speak out to them about this as he got with his political engagements. Top producer Dil Raju who bought the Nizam rights of Agnyaathavaasi lost close to Rs 20 crores and was the first one to meet the makers. Dil Raju had an interesting proposal which impressed Trivikram along with the team of Haarika and Hassine. Alternate take : Is there reason for Dil Raju to celebrate?

0

Producer and distributor Dil Raju held a mega event to mark the success of six movies in a row in 2017. Though some yesteryear producers did the feat of delivering 6 hits in a calendar year, in the current generation it is Dil Raju who could pull this unique stunt in Tollywood.

However, is this reason sufficient for Dil Raju to celebrate? Dil Raju has delivered successful movies like Shatamanam Bhavati, Nenu Local, DJ, Fidaa, Raja The Great and MCA. The movies like Fidaa and Shatamanam Bhavati are genuinely hits and in addition they received wide critical acclaim. But other movies like Nenu local, MCA and DJ are completely mediocre. Moreover, DJ movie has drawn some controversy on the premise of reporting fake collections. Other movie “Raja the great” had a novel premise like hero playing a blind role through out the movie. But the director didn’t utilize the opportunity to deliver a brand new story. He just delivered a regular commercial potboiler. In addition to these 6 movies, Dil Raju also presented “Jawaan” movie that also fared average.

Dil Raju was originally a distributor turned producer. He used to have very high success rate as disributor. But 2017 seem to be very bad year for him as distributor. Movies he distributed like – Om Namo Venkatesaya, Spyder, Jai Lava Kusa, Mahanubavudu, Cheliya, Gautam nanda – also not fared well. While JLK was above average, Mahanubhavudu was reasonable hit, ONV, Spyder, Cheliya and Gautam Nanda were disasters.

So overall, Dil Raju received disasters as distributors, as producer he scored decent hits. But except two, other movies he delivered are very mediocre. Though TFI delivered one Bahubali, rest of the movies made in Telugu are mostly mediocre. While Tamil makers delivering “out-of-the-box” movies like “Aruvi”, “Aramm” that are made with low or medium budget and yet commercially successful, Telugu makers are delivering strictly formulaic movies and celebrating the successes. We can’t ask film makers to pour their money into art films but the producers who have very good infrastructure and network are expected to make at least one “out of the box” and yet commercial movie after couple of commercial potboilers.

Dil Raju has strongline-up of movies for 2018 – Mahesh Babu with Vamsy Paidipally, Anil Ravipudi movie (with Venkatesh and Varun), Ram movie, Nitin movie (Srinivasa Kalyanam with Satish Vegesna), harish Shankar movie (Dagudu moothalu), varun tej movie (with a new director), raj tarun movie (with Anish Krishna of “Ala Ela” movie)

In the industry that has 2% success rate, scoring a double hat-trick is definitely a great feat. But delivering routine and regular films one after another that are not remembered even after one year of release doesn’t make him a great film maker. People want to see Dil Raju a great film maker, not just a successful film maker who delivered routine and yet successful movies. We have to wait and see if all of these also going to be regular commercial films or at least some of them are going to have a new scripts!!!

During the celebration of SVC banner, Dil Raju reminisced about his first breakthrough film Pelli Pandiri which brought him to limelight and the hardships he faced for releasing the film and financial struggles. Incidentally, the film was released on Christmas day! Dil Raju invited the entire team of Pelli Pandiri including Kodi Ramakrishna and felicitated them.

Dil Raju makes a fortune with MCA

0

Midas touch producer Dil Raju is well known for his prudent filmmaking tactics and pocketing good profits out of crazy combinations. 2017 has been one of the most successful years for Dil Raju’s production house as he bagged solid profits with all six films that released in the year. His latest film MCA has also turned out to be a huge profitable venture because he used the same money-making strategy like he did for previous films.

A source in the known revealed that Raju made a fortune with MCA. The Nani starrer was made on a budget of 12 Crores. While Nani was paid a remuneration of 5 Crores, Sai Pallavi bagged 50 Lacs. The crazy combination worked very well in producer’s favour and the film was relatively sold for more than double the price ( 27 Crores). Including Satellite, Digital and Audio rights, the film did a stunning 39 Crores business before release.

The production values in MCA are substandard and Devi Sri Prasad, too, disappointed with his tunes. Dil Raju was not keen on roping in a solid technical team. He doesn’t even want to go a crazy director. He is just inclined towards making movies in quick succession and mint as much money as possible in least possible time.

He is now lined up with nearly seven projects for next year all of them have medium-range directors. The reason is he doesn’t want to spend much money on remunerations.

Raju’s last minute changes for MCA shocks Nani

0

Natural Star Nani is riding high with back to back hits in his career and the actor is gearing up for the release of his next film Middle Class Abbayi (MCA) during the Christmas season. Directed by Sriram Venu, MCA trailer has been well accepted by the audience and Sai Pallavi is the female lead. Raju, the film’s producer who gives enough freedom for the director on the sets turns up quite typical in the editing room during the final cut. This is a regular procedure for the films that are produced on Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Raju as a habit was not impressed with couple of episodes of MCA during the second half and asked the director to chop them off. This did not go well with Nani and the actor was left in shock with the changes. After the discussion heated up, one of the episodes has been added back revealed a close source from the movie’s unit. Nani too was not in a mood to compromise and he revealed about his recent track record to Raju and the ace producer had to step down from his stand. MCA is slated for December 21st release.

Nizam : UV wants to end Dil Raju’s monopoly

Nizam area, one of the three major territories according to Tollywood parlance, account for more than 50 percent of the total revenue generated by any Telugu film. This is the reason why Nizam territory is given much priority by our filmmakers. Top producers like Dil Raju and Suresh Babu hold sway in this region as they have complete monopoly on the theatre chains.

Now, UV Creations, one of the newly established production houses in Tollywood, is planning to put and end to Dil Raju’s dominance in Nizam region. Reportedly, UV Creations is unhappy with the theatres they got for Mahanabhavudu. Also, rumours in industry circles are coming that the shares of Mahanabhavudu were not reported accurately by Dil Raju which resulted in short payment to UV. This led to a heated discussion between Dil Raju and Vamshi( one of the producers of UV).

This is one of the major reasons why UV Creations is hellbent on ending Dil Raju’s monopoly in Nizam. The ensuing result is UV Creations has now bagged the Nizam rights of Ram Charan’s upcoming film Rangasthalam for a fancy price. It is also heard that they are partnering with Ram Charan to venture into theatre business in Nizam shortly.
