Politicians need to focus on economics not politics: KTR

0

Telangana’s minister for industries, commerce and information technology K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday called for politicians to focus on economics rather than on politics.

He said it was unfortunate that leaders in India focus on politics and not on the economy.

India is in a perennial mode of elections and politicians were always more focused on winning the elections than creating wealth for the next generations, he said while addressing at the NHRD ‘Decode The Future- The National Conference’.

“We are the world’s largest democracy and elections happen throughout the year and the leaders are always seized with politics,” he said.

K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, also underlined the need for ensuring equitable distribution of wealth.

India was the most populous country in the world and yet a majority of the wealth of the nation was owned by a few individuals, he pointed out.

He said it was the primary responsibility of every single government to ensure wealth distribution.

“We need to think whether the leadership of our nation is giving us the aspirations of being a 25 trillion economy, besides how the wealth can be distributed equally among all sections,” KTR said.

“We are a nation with the maximum number of poor people on the planet. I am not preaching Communism but unless wealth is distributed equitably and unless the government takes care of the most vulnerable, we may have civil strife,” he warned.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that freebie culture is bad for the country, KTR said the fact remains that India is still a third world country.

He said that India which recently surpassed China as the most populous state with 1.4 billion has the biggest advantage both in terms of natural and Human resources.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader believes that the biggest challenge for a leader is not capital management but people management.

He pointed out that the maiden age of 65 per cent of India’s think force is 35 years and maiden age of 50 per cent of think force is 28 years.

“We are the youngest nation on the planet but we are not using this asset effectively,” he said.

Unfortunately, the youth were being trained and groomed to be job seekers and not job providers, he said.

Stating that the statistics are sometimes misleading, he said while India is fifth largest economy in terms of GDP, it ranks 142 with a per capita income of only $2,400.

KTR said India and China had almost similar GDPs in the 1980s. Now, China was a 18 trillion dollar economy and India was still languishing at 3.4 trillion dollars. Similarly, Japan, despite its geographical and topographical challenges, is the third largest economy in the world.

He said China managed its aspirations and development goals and ensured that its natural and human resources were put to effective use. He said Japan could achieve amazing growth despite all adversities because of the intellect of its people.

Listing out the rapid strides made by Telangana during the last eight years, especially the growth in GSDP and the per capita income, he claimed that If only the rest of India had performed at par with Telangana, the country would have already become a 4.25 trillion dollar economy.

KTR claimed that Telangana made good use of the natural and human resources and achieved 15 percent CAGR. Telangana’s per capita income in 2014 was Rs 1.24 lakh and increased to Rs 2.75 lakh while the national average was Rs 1.49 lakh, he said.

He pointed out that in the last 8.5 years, Telangana issued nearly 22,000 clearances for industries through TS-IPASS and generated 21 lakh direct jobs.

He also explained how Telangana was marching ahead with a fine balance of development and welfare.

“If only the rest of India can work like Telangana and if only the rest of India is led by a leader like KCR, 5 trillion is a joke, we can reach 15 trillion dollars,” he said.

He said that the Centre cannot afford to ignore the development ushered in by the state government in towns and villages, regardless of political affiliations.

He was addressing a workshop on Pattana Pragathi, the urban development programme of the state government.

Appreciating officials and staff for winning 26 awards in Swachh Survekshan-2022, he said that the Central government’s awards are a testament to the focus, commitment, and passion invested by people in the state.

KTR seeks funds in Union Budget for T’gana’s textile sector

0

A few weeks ahead of the Union Budget 2023-24, Telangana Handlooms and Textiles Minister K.T. Rama Rao has urged the Central government to allot sufficient funds for strengthening the handlooms sector in the state.

While mentioning that the Centre did not extend financial support to the various pioneering initiatives taken up by the state government for weavers in the past eight years, he said that this is the last full budget of the current Central government, which will be followed by vote on account budget.

KTR, as the Minister is popularly known, said that multiple appeals by the State government to strengthen the sector were not considered favourably by the Centre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government should prove its commitment to the weavers and textiles sector, he said.

Recognising the importance of infrastructure to usher rapid progress of the handlooms sector, the state government is establishing Kakatiya Mega Textiles Park in Warangal, he said, adding that the biggest textile park in India is attracting investments from national and international companies.

KTR said that the Centre has options to extend financial support under various schemes to the park, which is being established with Rs 1,600 crore.

“At least Rs 900 crore should be allotted in the upcoming budget towards infrastructure for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park and other programmes,” he said.

The Handlooms and Textiles Minister appealed that the Powerloom Sector in Sircilla, which has over 25,000 powerloom machines, be recognised as Mega Powerloom Cluster and allot Rs 100 crores to it.

Listing the Worker to Owner Scheme and other programmes taken up by the State government, he said that it takes over Rs 990 crore for strengthening of value chain, modernisation of power looms in Sircilla, improvement of market, skill development, capacity building, project monitoring, and appealed that a major share of the funds has to be announced in the budget.

Stating that there are over 40,000 handloom weavers in various parts of Telangana, with most of them in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Gadwal, Warangal, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, KTR urged the Centre to grant Indian Institute of Handloom Technology to the state. He said that land parcels to establish the institute are available at Gundlapochampally and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

The Handlooms and Textiles Minister also urged for the National Textiles Research Institute, Handlooms Exports Promotion Council to be announced in this budget, and to grant Block Level Handlooms Clusters under the National Handloom Development Project.

KTR made a special appeal to scrap the GST on handlooms products to save the weavers who are in financial crisis.

Why is BJP celebrating HC verdict in MLAs’ poaching case, asks KTR

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday came down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Union Minister Kishan Reddy for celebrating the high court order transferring the MLAs’ poaching case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Rama Rao hit back at Kishan Reddy who called the court order a “victory” for the BJP.

Posing a number of questions to Kishan Reddy, KTR, as the leader is popularly known, said the the BJP leaders stand exposed.

“When the accused Swamijis were caught openly, you said you had no connection with them and now when the case is transferred to the CBI, you are celebrating it. Is it because the case is now with your puppet agency?” he asked.

The minister questioned if they have no connection with the accused, why did they move the court multiple times and interfered in the investigation. “You are now publicly claiming that the BJP will get a clean chit as the case is with the CBI. This only proves how the central investigation agencies are compromised in the ruling of the BJP,” said KTR.

He remarked that earlier, the accused used to feel afraid if the case got transferred to the CBI, but now they are celebrating.

KTR added that the BJP has overtaken the Congress in misusing the investigating agencies. “Earlier, people used to call the CBI ‘Congress Bureau of Investigation’, but now people are calling it ‘Central BJP Investigation’,” he said.

KTR dared Kishan Reddy if they are ready for a narco analysis and lie detector test on the accused so that the BJP’s relationship with the accused will be clear.

He said that the “crooked” BJP is behaving as if they can do anything with the power. “We don’t have any need to denounce the BJP. They were already denounced by the public itself for their eight-year rule,” he said.

The minister added that as the BJP doesn’t have any achievement on their name to claim they are resorting to vicious propaganda on the opposition parties. “Is it not true that your party is poaching MLAs and toppling the democratically-elected state governments?” the minister questioned. He added that the BJP’s Operation Lotus failed miserably in Telangana and they were caught red-handed.

KTR said that the nation knows how the investigation will be done by BJP’s puppets. “BJP can’t escape the punishment in the people’s court,” he said. KTR added that the country is waiting for the right time to give a befitting answer to the BJP.

KTR slams Mandaviya for denying bulk drug park to Hyderabad

0

Telangana’s minister for industry and commerce K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday alleged that Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has hurt the people of Telangana by denying a bulk drug park to Hyderabad.

The minister took to Twitter to react to a statement made by the union minister for health, chemicals and fertilisers in the Parliament.

“By denying the Bulk Drug park to India’s pre-eminent Life-sciences Hub, you’ve done a great disservice to the Nation,” tweeted Rama Rao, who is also working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

“It’s a pity that for NPA Govt political considerations outweigh National interests,” added the minister, who always refers to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as Non-Performing Alliance (NPA).

KTR, as the BRS leader is popularly known, also slammed the union minister for uttering a lie in the Parliament.

Though the written answer shows that a bulk drug park was approved for Andhra Pradesh, the minister told the Lok Sabha that the Centre approved the proposal for the park in Hyderabad and Rs 1,000 crore will be given for the purpose.

Mansukh Mandaviya stated that the bulk drug parks were also approved for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

KTR stated that the minister had not only misled the people of Telangana with his white lies but also the Parliament.

He requested BRS floor leader in Lok Sabha Nama Nageswara Rao to move a privilege motion and make sure that the central minister apologises to people of Telangana for misleading them.

KTR urges Centre to scrap cess on fuel to reduce prices

1

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday demanded that the Centre scrap the cess on petroleum products to provide relief to people by reducing the prices.

Rama Rao said that if the Centre scrap the cess, the prices of petrol and diesel can be reduced to Rs 70 and Rs 60 per litre, respectively.

Rama Rao, who is also Telangana Industries and Commerce Minister, was reacting to the Centre blaming governments of Telangana and five other states for not reducing Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel.

Speaking in Lok Sabha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the states of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Jharkhand have not reduced VAT on fuel. He said if the governments of these states cut the VAT, the prices of petrol and diesel will reduce for consumers. People in these states have to pay more because their state governments continue to levy heavy VAT, he said.

Reacting to this, Rama Rao reminded the Central minister on Twitter that fuel prices have shot up only because of the NPA (Non-Performing Alliance) government.

“Name-calling states for not reducing VAT even though we NEVER increased it; is this the co-operative federalism PM Modi Ji talks about?,” asked KTR, as the BRS leader is popularly known.

He pointed out that Telangana has not increased VAT on fuel since 2014 and rounded off only once.

“We don’t get 41% of our rightful share because of the Cess imposed by NPA govt In the form of Cess Union Govt has already collected more than Rs 30 Lakh Crore! Isn’t it enough? Please scrap the Cess so we can give Petrol at Rs 70, Diesel at RS 60 & provide relief to all Indians,” he wrote.

Telangana seeks Centre’s approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail’s Phase II

0

Telangana’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao has urged Centre to accord in-principle approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II Project, from BHEL to Lakdikapul costing Rs 8,453 crore, as a jointly owned project of Centre and the state with external financial assistance.

In a letter ato Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, KTR, as the Minister is popularly known requested to include the said proposal in the ensuing union budget for 2023-24. The new Metro Line is proposed to be 26 km long with 23 stations.

He sought to meet the Union Minister to explain the project. To avoid delays in processing, detailed project reports (DPRs) of the project (as prepared by DMRC) and other related documents were sent to Centre by the Telangana government on October 27, the Minister added.

Noting that Hyderabad is the fastest-growing metropolitan city in terms of quarterly and year on year growth of real estate sector especially since 2019-20, he said that with the opening up of all the offices in post-Covid scenario, the need for expansion and strengthening of public transportation system needs no emphasis.

The Phase-I of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project spanning over 69 km was successfully implemented and fully operational. Incidentally, it is the world’s largest Metro Rail Project in PPP mode under the Centre’s VGF scheme, he said.

People of Munugode upheld Telangana’s self-respect: KTR

0

The people of Munugode have upheld Telangana’s self-respect and gave the mandate for development, said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao after his party’s victory in the Assembly by-election.

He said people of Munugode have given befitting reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who out of their “arrogance” imposed a by-election.

Rama Rao was addressing a news conference after the TRS won the bitterly contested by-election, defeating BJP by a margin of over 10,000 votes.

The TRS leader said though Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was the face of BJP, it was Amit Shah and Narendra Modi who were running the show from behind.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, said that despite the BJP using money power, misusing authority and all their allurements and conspiracies, people stood by the TRS and voted for the self-respect of Telangana.

He said the BJP’s conspiracies reduced the majority of TRS but it could not stop the party from registering a victory. He pointed out that despite all the conspiracies and allurements by BJP, the TRS increased its vote share to about 43 per cent from 34.29 per cent in 2018.

KTR said the TRS would have got a higher majority because of the situation in the constituency but the BJP leadership spent hundreds of crores and distributed liquor to lure voters.

Citing media reports, he said the husband of a BJP corporator and a close aide of state BJP President Bandi Sanjay was arrested with Rs 1 crore while BJP MLA Eatala Rajender’s personal assistant K. Srinivas was caught with Rs 90 lakh.

He alleged that BJP leader G. Vivek brought Rs 2.5 crore through hawala from Gujarat. He claimed that soon after Rajagopal Reddy joined the BJP, Vivek transferred Rs 75 crore to his account. He said earlier when Rajender had joined the BJP, Vivek had transferred Rs 25 crore to the account of his family company Jamuna Hatcheries.

KTR also alleged though the TRS complained to the Election Commission with proof that Rajagopal Reddy’s company Sushi Infra transferred Rs 5.25 crore to BJP leaders to lure voters, pressure was brought on EC not to take any action.

He alleged that the BJP misused its authority and deployed as many as 15 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the constituency.

He said 40 teams of the Income Tax with each team comprising 10 officials were sent to the constituency to conduct raids by making false allegations that the TRS is distributing money.

KTR said in the last eight years there were many by-elections in the state but it was only Huzurabad and Munugode that hundreds of crores were used in an assault on the democracy. He said in both the by-elections, the BJP candidates were rich and big contractors.

Law will take its own course: KTR

1

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao said on Saturday that the law will take its course in ‘MLAs poaching’ case.

“Law will take its own course and I am fully confident that the investigating agencies will do their job,” he said in his first reaction to the poaching drama which unfolded on October 26 with the arrest of three alleged BJP agents while trying to buy four MLAs of TRS.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, declined to comment further saying he would not like to say something which may be interpreted as influencing the investigation.

“We are responsible people running a government. If I speak something, they may say that I am influencing the investigation. Law will definitely take its own course,” he said.

The TRS leader also said that at an appropriate time either investigating agencies investigating the criminal act or TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will respond appropriately and in a befitting manner.

KTR was talking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters. Facing a volley of questions on the poaching case, he merely remarked that everything has come before people and the people know the thieves.

The TRS working president recalled that he had already asked party leaders not to comment on the case in haste. He said when he gave this direction to the party leaders, it would not be proper for himself to comment.

When asked about state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s challenge to CM KCR to swear at Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, KTR said pledges by leaders of a party which felicitate rapists carry no value.

Sanjay had taken a pledge at the temple on Friday that BJP is in no way involved in the poaching case and had asked KCR to swear at the same temple that this drama was not scripted by him.

KTR also remarked that Sanjay committed a sin by touching feet of deity with the same hands which carried union home minister Amit Shaha’s footwear. The TRS leader said this had hurt the sentiments of devotees of Yadadri temple and asked the temple authorities and Veda pundits to carry out purification rituals.

Shocking, says TRS on Centre’s nod for release of Bilkis Bano case convicts

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao on Tuesday termed “shocking” the affidavit filed by the Gujarat government in the Supreme Court that it decided to release 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case after the Centre gave its approval.

“Shocking!! All along it was reported that Gujarat Govt released the “Sanskari Rapists” Turns out it is Union Govt who actually approved this!,” tweeted Rama Rao.

“Shameful & repulsive Letting out Rapists & Child-Killers just for political gains is a new low even by the very low BJP standards,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi stated that Bilkis Bano rapists were released early after approval from union home minister Amit Shah’s ministry.

“These men were guilty of brutal rape & murder. A 3 year old’s head was bashed with a rock. They were killed only because they were Muslim. For BJP, no crime is too grave if the victims are Muslim,” tweeted the Hyderabad MP.

Owaisi wrote that the release was against the central government’s own policy but BJP state and central governments left no stone unturned for the early release of these rapists, murderers and child killers.

The Gujarat government informed the Supreme Court on Monday that the union government had given approval for the premature release of 11 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment in the Bilkis Bano gang-rape case.

“All the prisoners have completed 14-plus years in the prison under life imprisonment and opinions of the authorities concerned have been obtained as per the premature release policy of 1992 and submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs vide letter dated June 28, 2022 and sought the approval of the Government of India. The Government of India conveyed the concurrence/approval under Section 435 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for premature release of 11 prisoners in a letter on July 11, 2022,” the state government said in an affidavit.
