What did KVP and Chandrababu discuss?

0

They are temperamentally as different as chalk and cheese. Not just that they are arch rivals politically. They belong to the diametrically opposing ends of the political spectrum. So, it is but natural that curiousity levels hit through the roof when these two leaders meet and talk privately for a long time.

Both KVP Ramachandra Rao, a senior Congress leader and YSR’s alter-ego, and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu have run into each other at the funeral of former CM K Rosaiah. KVP made the first move and greeted Chandrababu, which the latter reciprocated. Both the leaders settled in a corner and had a chat. During the chat, Chandrababu laid his hand on KVP’s shoulders. Sources say it was an open and warm conversation.

Now the political circles are hotly debating what figured during the discussion. While there is no way of knowing what both discussed, the guestimate is that the recent incidents in the AP Assembly, where some YSRCP leaders abused Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari. Local politics surely may have figured in the discussion, sources say.

Meanwhile, relationship of KVP with Jagan are icy cold. They have not met in many years. Though KVP did attend the recent YSR memorial meet organized by YS Sharmila and YS Vijayamma at Hyderabad, YS Jagan has skipped the meeting.

This most silent man is now the key behind-the-screen string-puller in Telugu politics

0

He is among the most silent of the politicians. He rarely speaks and when he speaks, it is almost always in mono-syllables. But these days, he is fast emerging as the most talked about politician in both the Telugu states. Not just that. He is quickly turning out to be mediator and moderator in most political disputes. Any guess who the leader is?

It is former Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao. Yes. KVP, once considered the alter ego of YSR, is now the most heard name in Telugu politics. He is said to be the link man between Telangana PCC chief Revanth Reddy and the sulking seniors in the Congress Party. When the seniors refused to attend Revanth’s swearing in function, it was KVP who convinced them and made them attend. He played the mediator between the high command and the senior Telangana Congress leaders .

Now several senior Congress leaders are raising a banner of revolt against Revanth Reddy. They are holding parallel Dalit Atmagourava rallies in their areas of influence and are challenging Revanth Reddy. Sources say that KVP is behind their actions. He reportedly suggested to them to hold rallies in their constituencies, but not invite Revanth Reddy. By doing this, they will be seen as obeying the High Command but ignore Revanth’s leadership.

Sources also say that the real brain behind YS Vijayamma’s September 2 meeting of former colleagues of late YSR is KVP Ramachandra Rao. Through this meeting, which will be held at Hyderabad, Vijayamma wants all the former colleagues of YSR, who are now in various parties and different positions, to be brought together. This move is likely to make YS Jagan jittery as his relations with his mother and sister have soured of late. Since the meeting is being held in Telangana, it is likely to benefit YS Sharmila, who is now politically active in Telangana.

Strictly enforce law enacted by YSR to punish medical fraternity assaulters: KVP

0

Condemning a series of attacks on doctors, paramedical staff and ASHA workers in Telangana, Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP K V P Ramachandra Rao on Friday called upon the Telangana government to strictly enforce the AP Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage of Property) Act in 2008 enacted during the Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy regime in united Andhra Pradesh.

K V P Ramachandra Rao, a doctor himself and considered as the inner conscience of former chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, said doctors are at risk on two fronts – combating the virus from the frontline exposing themselves to the contagion and facing constant attacks and intimidations from kin of patients.

Stating that those who perpetrate violence against doctors and paramedical staff should be punished stringently, KVP said the Telangana government should strictly enforce the Act enacted by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to boost the morale of the medical fraternity.

The legislation prohibits violence against medicare service persons and damage to property in medicare service institutions. More significantly, the Act makes such offences against the medical fraternity cognizable and non-bailable. Persons who commit such offences shall be punished with imprisonment for a period for three years and with fine, which may extend to Rs 50,000. A similar law was enacted by Haryana and several States followed, KVP said.

Post-bifurcation of the state, the Telangana government renamed the original Act as Telangana Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Services Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2008, and strictly enforced it in two or three cases involving attacks against doctors and hospitals in Hyderabad. However, it is unsure if Jagan Mohan Reddy led AP government enacted the Act brought in by his father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in united Andhra Pradesh.

KVP’s comment comes in the wake of reports of doctors, paramedical staff and ASHA workers being attacked across Telangana. In Hyderabad, doctors and other medical staff were physically assaulted at Gandhi Hospital by an angry mob after the death of a corona positive patient. In Nizamabad and Adilabad, ASHA workers were attacked by locals when the health workers visited the area to screen residents for signs of novel coronavirus infection after some of the residents are believed to have attended the large religious congregation in Markaz Masjid in South Delhi’s Nizamuddin. Angry mobs refused screening and chased away the ASHA workers.

Trial resumed in US on scam during YSR regime: KVP in troubles?

A sudden twist occurred in the US in the case that originated during YSR regime today. As Austria court removed hurdles for the extradition of Ukrainian gas mogul Dmitry Firtash to Chicago, the trial is expected to be expedited. As per analysts, US may ask Indian government to extradite former MP KVP Rama Chandra Rao also to US. If that doesnt happen, US may at least ask Government of India to cooperate in bringing KVP to the court of law as per international regulations.

Who is Dmitry Fitash?

Dmitry Firtash is a very powerful Ukrainian businessman. He heads the board of directors of Group DF and he has business connections to both Russian president Vladimir Putin and US president Donald Trump’s former campaign manager. He is one of the prominent and highly influential businessmen in Ukraine and he handled very high profile positions in Ukraine. He was even involved in financing the election campaign of a presidential candidate. He even funnelled money into the campaigns of pro-Russia politicians in Ukraine.

How KVP Rama Chandra Rao and Firtash connected in mining scam:

Firtash is co-owner of RosUkrEnergo and controls much of the Ukrainian titanium industry. Companies controlled by Firtash were involved in a titanium sponge project that required licenses and approval of both the Andhra Pradesh state government and the central government of India. He used US financial institutions to engage in the international transmission of millions of dollars for the purpose of bribing Indian public officials to obtain approval of the necessary licenses for the project. KVP was his partner in dealing with public officials in AP and India. They both allegedly conspired to pay at least $18.5 million to Indian officials in bribes to secure licences to mine minerals in Andhra Pradesh. Over $500 million in sales was expected to arise from this particular mining project.

The case and its severity:

US federal indictment in June 2013 charged totally six foreign nationals, including a Ukrainian businessman Firtash and former Indian parliamentarian KVP Rama Chandra Rao. Firtash was arrested by Austrian authorities in March 2014 to face charges that he had secured a titanium extraction permit in India through $18.5 million in bribes. US has been asking Austria to extradite him to the US. Now Austria removed all the hurdles for extradition and he will be in Chicago in a week or two. If proved guilty, FIRTASH MAY GET IMPRISONMENT OF 50 YEARS.

What about KVP?

During Manmohan Singh’s government, he enjoyed sort of protection from Indian government. It is still suspenseful how Modi’s government will respond if US asks India to extradite KVP. Will it handover him or protect him on the agreement that he either joins BJP or helps BJP in crushing Congress. It needs to be curiously observed how it affects BJP- YSRCP relations in future. But the latest developments are surely going to give heartache to KVP.
