PM Modi pays last respects to his ‘Badi Didi’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening paid his respects to the mortal remains of legendary singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, whom he referred to as his ‘Badi Didi’ (elder sister).

Modi was among the first of VVIPs who went to the spot where Lata’s body was kept for people to pay their last respects at Shivaji Park.

He was accompanied by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, and other dignitaries like Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, many of whom enjoyed family relations with the Mangeshkars.

The PM then got down and walked over to the enclosure where the entire Mangeshkar clan including Lata’s sisters Asha Bhosale, Usha Mangeshkar, Meena Mangeshkar and sole brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar as well as grandchildren and other family members were present and offered his condolences to them.

Modi also briefly interacted with Thackeray, Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis, with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, NCP President Sharad Pawar, MNS President Raj Thackeray, Vinod Tawade.

All Maha Vikas Aghadi ministers, leaders of Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress were also present at the venue.

After interacting briefly, Modi patted Uddhav Thackeray warmly, signifying he should take care of his health – as the CM has been suffering from a chronic spinal issue since the past three months.

Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar – who had very close ties with the Bharat Ratna Lata – also turned up with his wife Dr Anjali and paid his last respects to the deceased singer.

Several top Bollywood personalities including superstar Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri, Javed Akhtar, Shankar Desai, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Shraddha Kapoor and others were present at the funeral besides several thousands of ordinary Mumbaikars mourning for the departed singer.

Nightingale of India is no more

Legendary singer of Indian cinema, Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last this morning at the age of 92. She has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last month after she was tested positive for Covid-19. She was also diagnosed with pneumonia and was on ventilator support. Lata Mangeshkar recovered slowly but her health condition deteriorated a couple of days ago. She was kept on ventilator support and she passed away today. Lata Mangeshkar started her career at the age of 13 years and she sang 30,000 songs in various Indian languages for seven decades.

Lata Mangeshkar received Padma Bhushan in 1969, Padma Vibhushan in 1999 and Bharat Ratna in 2001. Popularly called as the ‘Nightingale of India’, Lata Mangeshkar was also conferred with ‘Officier de la Legion d’Honneur’, the highest civilian award of France. Several celebrities rushed to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday including Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. Lata Mangeshkar worked with all the top actors and filmmakers of Indian cinema during her journey. Indian cinema will badly miss her. Rest in peace Lata Mangeshkar.

Lata Mangeshkar’s Health Condition Deteriorates

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in January after she was diagnosed with Coronavirus and Pneumonia. The legendary singer recovered slightly after she was taken out of venitlator and shifted to ICU. Her niece Rachna Shah revealed that she is recovering and her health condition is stable.

The hospital authorities released a health bulletin saying that her health condition deteriorated and is critical. She is kept on a ventilator and is monitored by experts. Lata Mangeshkar is aged 92 years and she received Bharat Ratna in 2001 which happens to be the highest civilian honour for an India. Lata Mangeshkar is fondly called as the Nightingale of India and she sang more than 1000 songs in Hindi films and other languages. Wishing Lata Mangeshkar a speedy recovery.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who is known as the Nightingale of India has been hospitalized after she was tested positive for Covid-19. She is currently being treated in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in ICU. Lata Mangeshkar has mild symptoms and she has been kept in ICU for precautionary reasons considering her age. The 92-year-old singer recorded more than 1000 songs in her career.

Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to the hospital on Saturday night and the doctors confirmed that she is suffering from pneumonia as well as coronavirus. Her niece Rachana informed the media about her health. The doctors wanted Lata Mangeshkar to get admitted to ICU for constant medical care. Wishing Lata Mangeshkar a speedy recovery.
