However, nothing happened to Vairamuthu as there was no evidence against him.

Today, Chinmayi again posted in twitter targeting him. She questioned media why they never questioned Vairamuthu on MeToo issue. By tagging a magazine story on Me too, she tweeted, “It has been almost a year since #Metooindia allegations were made on many Karnatik musicians. But what has happened since then ? The reason why Survivors didn’t come forward was because One particular girl was told she would be interrogated in the presence of her molester. Why would the girls want to subject themselves to that?!”

Her tweets got mixed response from netizens and some people even reminded her husband’s recent movie Manmadhudu-2 belittling women. However other appreciated her courage for being forerunner in MeToo movement and bravely naming the powerful people of the industry.

MeToo backfire: Chinmayi banned from dubbing Tamil movies

0

It is known news that Singer and dubbing artiste Chinmayi has been forerunner in MeToo campaign in South India. Her allegations on Vairamuthu, veteran lyricist of Tamil industry, came as shocker to many. She has also supported other women who voice out against predators in the industry. She also supported the women who voiced against Radha Ravi, president of dubbing union and it is now taking toll on her career. Now, these powerful people of industry started moving the pawns and Chinmayi got a shocker as Tamil fiilm industry’s dubbing union terminated her membership, which means she can no longer dub for Tamil films. She has given voice for artistes like Samantha, Jyothika, Asin and Trisha and most of the times, her dubbing elevated the scenes.

She responded on the decision of dubbing union through twitter. She tweeted, “So, given to understand that I have been terminated from the dubbing union. Which means I can longer dub in Tamil films henceforth. The reason stated is that I haven’t paid ‘subscription fees’ for 2 years though this hasn’t stopped them from taking 10% off my dubbing income. According to Tamil Film Industry rules if you’re not a member of the dubbing union they wont allow you to work. Considering no written communication, message was sent to me on past dues and with the membership terminated I wonder if I ll dub for a film again in Tamil.”

She also told that she expected this would happen, as she tweeted, “I expected the first axe to go down from the dubbing union. I dont know yet if I’ll be given my membership back. Just a decision that’s been taken without informing me that my membership is terminated. I am still on the much publicised concert tour in the US.Anyway as of now it looks like ‘96 will be my last in Tamil. It is a good film to end my Tamil dubbing scene with if the termination were to continue. Bye Bye!”

She expressed her frustration on these powerful predators running the society, she tweeted, “Anyway I always knew my career would be done with. Society is run by the powerful. The predators will NEVER be questioned. Neither will disciplinary action be taken against them. Fact that Mr Radha Ravi is still President of the Dubbing Union despite all the allegations”

So, her recent film 96 might be her last Tamil film as dubbing artiste. We will have to wait and see if Tamil stars support her in this issue and help her come out. Recently actress Sanjana also forced to tender apology to the director on whom she made allegations. Now Chinmayi is targeted. We will have to see how Chinmayi fights back on this issue.

Then he entered into politics and was elected as MP (Congress party) in 1989. He was also official spokesperson of Rajiv Gandhi. In 1991, Akbar joined the Government as an adviser in the Ministry of Human Resources. In 1992 he returned to Journalism and started Asian Age. In 2004, his group began publishing The International Herald Tribune in India, and became a publishing partner of The New York Times. Pallavi Gogoi’s write-up in Washington Post

She joined Asian age, after college. Like all other her peers, she was also awestruck by MJ Akbar as he was already author, MP, spokesperson for Rajiv Gandhi. She later became editor of the op-ed page at the Asian Age. In 1994, she went to show Akbar, her superior, the op-ed page she had created. He applauded her effort and suddenly lunged to kiss her. She resisted and left the room. Later, in Bombay he again tried to kiss her but she pushed away. Then he threatened to kick her out of the job if she resisted him again. Later she took up an assignment and went to Jaipur. Akbar also later came to Jaipur and stayed in a hotel and asked her to come to room and show the story. In his hotel room, even though she fought him, he was physically more powerful and ripped off her clothes and raped her. He continued to coerce her. For a few months, he continued to defile her sexually, verbally, emotionally. He sent her abroad but only to prey on her whenever he visited that city.

She wrote, Today, she is a U.S. citizen, a wife and mother. But she still remembers how she was in shreds — emotionally, physically, mentally because of Akbar. She added, Akbar was always above law and justice. She told she is writing this to support the many women who have come out to tell their truth.

Overall:

It is a heart-wrenching story. Anyone who read her story could feel her pain. Akbar, who started as journalist and rose to the level of Union minister and was inspiration to many. But after knowing his real personality people are lambasting him. He raped her subordinates, he assaulted sexually his friends daughters, and women who had reverence for him for his achievements in career. All his murky side is now coming out because one lady dared to speak out.

To say In journalistic words, “Nation wants to know” what kind of punishment Mr Akbar, the one who assaulted several women of different ages at every stage of his life, will get in this country.
